I had a One Touch Ultrasmart and a Mini but had to switch because of insurance. Was disappointed at first but I really like the Bayer Contour and actually prefer it over the others.
A good reference is the Health section of consumer reports. They did a pretty good job of evaluating various meters. Bayer Contour came out pretty good. Not sure how the One Touch’s did but I know that of the 4 that my insurance now covers the Bayer was ranked the most reliable and accurate (Freestyle Lite, Accuchek Aviva were two of the others).
At the end of the day the best meter is the one that your insurance covers!
i would say one touch because its fast and accurate and easy to use.and theres many differnt types, colors and designs it also doesnt take alot of blood and on some it also comes with a cable you can connect to it and hook it up to your computer and it will neatly give you all your numbers and the date and time and u can print it if you want rather than writing it down if you need to…but ive never tried the freestyle flash so yupp you compare haha.
I’m using a One Touch Ultra Link because it communicates my results to my insulin pump wirelessly. It is easy to use and does not require a big blood sample. When I see my endocronologist her nurse can take my meter and download information from it.
