Could this be the onset of TYPE 1 DIABETES?

have been having weird symptoms since Wednesday that have all pointed toward Type 1 Diabetes. I just got over a terrible viral infection a few weeks ago that really took a toll on my intestines.

Since Wednesday I have been experiencing the following symptoms:

- Frequent urination w/ NO pain or burning, up to 10-15 times a day
- Increased appetite
- Increased thirst
- Fatigue
- Irritability
- Burning, gnawing pain in upper abdomen that has lasted for the past 24 hrs
- Feeling of "swelling" in upper abdomen
- Extreme flatulence
- Frequent diarrhea (was watery, but now stools are loose and very small)
- Burning, itchy ears

So basically I have a lot of symptoms that relate to problems of the pancreas and the onset of Type 1 Diabetes. I have an appointment with my doctor on Wednesday, but I would like to know if any one here could give me any information or take a stab at it.

Thank-you.

I am sixteen-years-old, if that matters.

Type 1 or Type 2…what do you think?

Ok my daughter is 14 and has been having some issues. We took her to the doctor for a physical and he checked her blood sugar and it was 160 mg/dL. At that time she had a normal fasting reading. But he sent us home w/ a meter and strips to test her after meals. We got readings like these: 168,163,161,159,155 etc. So we had her a1c tested and it came back at 5.7% (which is supposedly normal but he said it was somewhat high for a skinny athletic girl). So we have been checking and now her fasting went from being 85 everyday to 114. I know this is pre-diabetic range but her doctor thinks it could be the VERY early stages of type 1. He says that he thinks her pancreas is fading very slowly. What do you think? Did anyone catch their type 1 early?

I have Acanthosis Nigricans. I’m not sure if I’m diabetic. I want to get checked soon. I heard that if my insulin levels are over active, it will trigor my skin disorder. Please, don’t tell me to go to the doctor… I AM going to go. LOL I just want more information about diets to lower my insulin levels. What should I expect to deprive myself of?
LOL "DR." How do you know I don’t have an over active pancreas without running a test on me?

a. The pituitary gland produces antidiuretic hormone (ADH), which stimulates the kidneys to break down glycogen into glucose and release it into the blood.
b. The thyroid gland produces thyroxine, which stimulates the metabolic rate so that more glycogen is broken into glucose and released in the blood.
c. The pancreas produces glucagon, which stimulates the liver to break down glycogen into glucose and release it into the blood.

As I was doing my project I read something in a website "Insulin Shortens your Life" and it stated that eating to much sweets will increase your blood sugar and causing your pancreas to release insulin in your blood stream. When I research more this insulin in other websites they say insulin is like a restart chemical of the brain..to make the story short..I’m confuse about insulin please help me:)

My dad has a bad pancreas and we just found out that my dad has type 2 diabetes, will having both issues make one or the other worse? He also has Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy…..
Besides the fact that he has diabetes, I know that means he has a bad pancreas. What I mean is, prior to that, part of his pancreas is dying and it keeps getting infected resulting in him being hospitalized. I already knew that diabetes also results in a bad pancreas thank you!!!

Let me try to explain what is happening to me. I keep getting hypoglycemia even thought I’m not diabetic.

It happens 2 ways, one…sometimes despite eating a 500 calorie balanced non sugary meal within the hour of working out, I get hypo during my routine daily 30 minute cardio workout. I have had some success in countering this by eating a banana 10 mins before I begin working out, but still I feel it’s not normal I have to do this.

The other way is at some point a couple hours after a meal I will start feeling lightheaded/weird and get a pounding heart and very anxious…this is the other way I get it. Then it seems even if I eat my sugar only stays up briefly as I’ve checked serially with many glucose test strips, I have never seen my sugar rise above 115 or so unless I drink a TON of soda or something like that, and even then it’s back down in the 80′s really quick. Again I used a box of nearly 50 test strips in a day to watch just what was going on at 15 minute intervals.

At the doctor I’ve had metabolic panels, a CT scan of my abdomen to look at my pancreas… nothing is seen. Any ideas?
1 thing to point out is that with over night fasts, I am never hypoglycemic, it’s almost always in the 80′s when I wake up
sorry but these answers are stupid so far, anyone else?

I’m not talking right after diagnosis, I’m talking once the honeymoon period is over and their bodies no longer produce insulin. Why do other parts of the pancreas still work?

Thanks! :)

i heard there are some medications for type 2 that cause your pancreas to produce more insulin, what are the names of those medications???

I just need to know what causes the pancreas to under produce Glucegon or Insulin. Also more importantly i need to know sort of impact does this underproduction have on the human behavior.

diabetes…is this a real progress?

a vaccine used to combat TB could cure diabetes for most within four years, according to scientists.
an american researcher realised a drug that killed "bad" white blood cells could help reverse type 1 diabetes.
she then identified BCG,commonly used in britain to combat TB,as having this side effect.
dr denise faustman found that mice with a form of diabetes type 1 in humans could be cured quickly when given the drug.
she said:"they started improving within days after the first injection of BCG was given and were eventually free of diabetes."
the vaccine destroyed abnormal white blood cells obstructing the production of insulin, which is needed to prevent diabetes, she said.
trials on humans, at massachussett general hospital, in boston, must first determine whether the same strategy could work on the abnormal autoimmune cells present in type 1 diabetes.
this form of disease often starts in childhood when the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the …
pancreas. but the study is unlikely to help those with type 2 diabetes.

what do you think about it?
