I mean like their insulin needles or like all their equipment they need? How do they get it passed security without getting picked out and searched? Or do they carry like a doctor’s note.

I am 26 and 28 weeks preggo weighing 108 lbs on my 4th pregnancy with no prior problems in my last 3 but recently had a glucose reading of 147 not high but elevated. I had pancakes for breakfast that morning and drank a mountain dew on the way to the doctors before the 1 hour test, will that affect my results. I hate needles and do not want to go through this test if it’s not necessary, what do you think?

1st question: is the glucose tolerance test the same thing as the gestational diabetes test?
2nd question: How is the test performed as far as the blood sample? Is it just a finger poke or do they actually stick a needle in your arm and take a vial of blood? I really hate needles but I wouldn’t mind a finger poke at all.
Thanks!

My friend is diabetic and doesn’t take care of herself. What makes it worst is that she currently has no money and is living out of motels. She has no insulin and no needles and is very sick. I don’t know what to do, but she needs supplies NOW which are cheap, or preferrably no cost. The programs i’ve researched can’t get it to her in enough time. Any hospitals ort clinics in LA county that can help her. please respond. thank you.
p.s.
i know if it gets bad i can take her to the ER but im hoping for a more long term/ less expensive solution….thanks

I have some concern that my blood sugar may be off (high or low i’m not really sure) so I had my mother-in-law who is a diabetic take my reading with her monitor. We tried 5-6 different strips on two different days on two different readers. The strips and needles were both new but it wouldn’t beep or show any results at all. The first day we did manage to get a reading of 161 but we are not sure if it’s accurate since it took a while to read, like 30-40 seconds after applying blood to strip, (she could have pushed a button or something since it still didn’t beep). We tried a lot of blood and a little bit on both of my middle fingers and my index fingers, but still nothing. She tests herself at least once a day and hasn’t had any problems. Also, my sister-in-law who had diabetes when pregnant tested herself and the results showed up immediately (she was normal).
If there is no problem with the device or any of its parts and we were doing the test correctly, why wouldn’t it read my blood sugar? I can’t find any information on this anywhere!
Thanks in advance,
Amy Lou

There have been many advancements in medical technology that might one day allow Diabetics to get their insulin without injecting with needles.
What sort of methods might be used? And when will these be a reality for Diabetics?

I am looking for a needle-less glucose blood sugar monitor system for my dad. I heard somewhere somehow there is a device that people with diabetes would not need to poke themselves with needles to get a measurement. Can you recommend a device that isn’t so much money?
Many thanks,

I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetis and was put on a special low carb diet. I have to check my blood sugar levels 5 times a day. My levels still seem to stay higher than they should. Is there anything I can do to get my levels down so that I don’t have to take insullin shots (I hate needles). I haven’t even been eating as much carbs as they have allowed me to and my levels don’t seem to be coming down .
