I am taking Metformin for insulin resistance. The doctor tested my glucose level in the morning when I hadn’t eaten for about 12 hours. It was normal. However, sometimes in the afternoon I get dizzy.
So my question is, could my blood sugar go lower in the afternoon (even though I would have eaten lunch) or is blood sugar always at its lowest level when you have been fasting?
Wait, so you’re saying glucose is HIGHER when you’ve been fasting? I thought it would be lower.

I have been taking medroxyprogestrone (provera) to regulate my cycle and then on days 5-9 I take clomid. I don’t have a menstrual at all until I take the provera. Im not ovulating and therefore I have to get a 21 day progesterone check. My level is very low. Now I’ve been prescribed with metformin. How effective are the two together? Did anyone have any success with the metformin?

I need to know if i should wait and take the metformin and actos two hours after eating so the byetta doesnt make them ineffective…. also omocor is supposed to be taken before eating , but the byetta would probably not allow it to work correctly….

I just started taking Metformin for Insulin resistance (which caused my cycles to stop) I have had 1 regular cycle since I satrted taking it 1 month ago. Id love to hear your stories. How long did it take you to concieve while on the medication, complications, other things that may help in combination with the medicine…My husband and I are working on baby #2…it took us 4 years to get pregnant with my son, on no meds at that time. Do you think my outlook is a good one? All responses appreciated!

I have gone from a size 8 to a size 18 in the last 2 years because I am insulin resistant and I am sick of it! I have done everything known to man to lose weight and I can’t. I want my old life back. I’m depressed and I don’t want to go anywhere or do anything anymore. I just keep getting fatter and fatter and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s not fair! I’ve tried regular diet and exercise, pills, metformin, etc. and nothing works! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to lose weight?

I am a diabetic on insulin. Another insulin dependent diabetic told me about how great Byetta is. I tried it, and I love it. Her doc wrote her a prescription. I finally got mine to write me one. My insurance company denied preauthorization saying Byetta is not FDA approved for insulin users. I was also denied because there was no record of me using metformin or TZD. I did use these, but I got bad diarrhea.. I don’t know why my friend’s insurance company approved her, but I got denied by mine. I have coverage through Coventry. Is there any way I can get approval?

I’m asking because my boyfriend is recently diagnosed with Diabetes. The past two months, with all the Metformin, Avandia, Lantus, Novalog, needles, gauze, alcohol, meter strips, etc. We are struggling. His health insurance only provides 00 gross towards prescriptions PER YEAR. We are very quickly coming up on that 00 and it hasn’t even been 6 months. I’m curious to know, are we doing something wrong? Why can’t we afford this treatment? It seems like a good many Americans have Diabetes, how does everyone else afford the many prescriptions? We’re freaking out, because we don’t have the money for rent, gas, food, etc. We feel like the Diabetes treatment has to come first, but all these co-pays for specialists and prescriptions has drained our wallets, we can’t buy food, nevermind entertainment. How does everyone else afford this?! What can we do?

I’ve been on Metformin and Cymbata since this last summer. The medicine has helped me loose 30 lbs. Unfortunately, my weight loss is at a stand still now and I’ve noticed I’ve been getting more frequent blood sugar lows. This may also be because I’ve haven’t been as hungry and have been skipping meals. I actually went 12 hours with out a meal yesterday. Got distracted, boy did my husband chew me out for that one. I guess I hope that if I skip meals, I’ll lose more weight.

I am eating very healthy and exercising 45 minutes a day vigorously. I was just prescribed Metformin – was told to take half dose to see if my blood sugars stabilize. They have gone from 277 to 172 to 164 in three days but this is still too high. Doctor said if it wasn’t below 130 to increase dosage but I don’t know how long I should wait.

I was diagnosed with diabetes a month ago. I follow a strict diet. I have slipped with eating candy about 4 times and I notice my blood sugar actually goes down after this. I’m usually steady with levels around 105, but after the candy I go down to 80′s! Why?
I am on metformin medication.
