How long does it take for metformin to get totally out of your system once you stop taking it? What about 70/30 insulin and glyburide? Thanks.

Is Byetta better than insulin, if so, why?

In addition to taking metformin, I just started injecting myself with byetta 3 wks ago, because my doctor told me it has less side effects than insulin. However, I get an acid stomach & diarrhea from it. Will this eventually go away?

I am 16yrs old and have a strong history of diabetes in my family.
I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 by a nurse, and she started giving me those 500g tablets of Metformin to have 1 after every evening dinner. She just wants to check if the metformin is helping me or not. I have to say I feel like its controlling my sugar levels, however I feel like its giving me diarrhoea. Despite that, the problem is that at night I start shaking when I’m about to go to sleep and I find it difficult to breath. This happens after waking up also.

I have no idea if its to do with the Metformin side-effects, but I feel like it is because these symptoms started to occurr a few days from know just about when I started having them. This is making me very nervous.

I recently also changed my diet, I eat healthier foods and have atleast 3 pieces of fruit a day (getting there) and am trying to maintain a balanced diet. I also walk around (power-walk) after every meal to help control the sugar levels. Everything seems fine except for at night when sleeping, I find it difficult to breath after waking up, even if I had’nt gotten full sleep.

Just so you know, I have asthma, but it does’nt feel like its part of the recent problem at all.
I am slightly overweight.

I’ve been off of my birth control pills since last April and my periods still aren’t normal. I went to the doctor and she drew blood and told me I have PCOS. She gave me Metformin 500mg twice a day and I’ve been taking it for almost two months. I can’t get my periods normal, which means I’m not ovulating. When I do have a period it’s so light that I wouldn’t even have to have a period if I didn’t want to. What should I do?

I just found out that I’m a diabetic type 2. Am taking metformin once a day. I have gallstones and what to know if I can do a liver flush to try and remove them. I’d rather keep my gallbladder if I can. Appreciate any information……

On the 30th of October I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I was told because I am still young(I am 21) I can prevent it,I used to weigh 269 pounds, then that went down to 266 and then it went down to 260 pounds and then it went down to as of now I weigh 252 pounds,I used to weigh 280 something but I lost the weight. I am eating more healthy and I have cut back on the junk food. Before I got diagnosed I would eat,

Every cake on the store shelves.
A whole pizza.
I would eat and eat and eat and eat.

I use the Contour meter
test strips
I use Microlet muti colored lancets
I take 2 metformin pills a day(after breakfast and after dinner) they are both 500 mg.
I also take Lexapro 10 mg.

My boyfriend has type 2 diabetes and takes metformin. He has tingling and numbness of the pinky and ring fingers on his left hand. He goes to the doc on monday. It has been going on for about a week off and on, but it had gotten worst today. Is there something he can do to stop it, or make it not as bad?

diabetes type 2 and fusterated with doctors?

i am having such a hard time with doctors. last feb i was sick and so i went to the doctor. thats when they told me i was type 2 diabetic. they put me on metformin and told me to change my diet and exercise more. no biggie. ever since that visit, i havent felt the same. i am sick ALL the time. i went to my doctor every couple of weeks. ive had tons of blood work done. the only thing they ever find in my blood work is a high white blood cell count that hasnt gone down. but they cant find the infection causing it. i have gone for a couple second opinions. i have gone to a couple women health doctors. i even saw a cancer doctor that tried to say i had leukemia. but all my tests came back good. one doctor after another and no one can find out why im always sick now. i keep getting every excuse for my symtoms. they say there from the diabetes.. the ONLY other medication i was even on was the depo birthconrol shot. i stopped that a year ago before the diabetes hoping to get pregnant for the first time. they say its stress.. work related.. and another one only lectured me on smoking. i understand smoking isnt good. but would smoking alone make me sick all the time.. cmon!! i had runs all the time. i felt bloated and nasty. i got horrible headaches. sick to my stomach. light headed and dizzy spells. low blood sugars every morning. i would even eat right before bed. i would wake up with 50′s and 60′s. i would feel really disoriented and drink orange juice or something loaded with carbs to wake up every morning. then the orange juice would bring my blood sugar up so quickly that i would get headaches. then it was an every morning ritual to take ibuprofin. i hated it. the doctor wouldnt change the meds or the doeses no matter how much i complained. i was told it will take time to get use to the meds and control the diabetes. so almost everyday it was like work bed work bed cause im always not feeling well to do anything else!!

out of fusteration, i have stopped taking all meds. for a month now. i have felt a TON better. all the stomach problems went away. i havent had any headaches. i started taking vitamins too. im not so tired anymore. i know it had to be the medication. but here is my problem now. i keep an eye on my blood sugar. but its going high now. i am trying the best i can i eat better and control it that way. but unless i eat greens 24/7 i cant. im seeing high 100′s in the mornings and mid afternoons. the highest has been 180. but on the plus side, im not going low at night. when i wake up its 90′s usually.

ugh!! i know i need to go back to the doctor or a doctor. but how do i get them to actually LISTEN to me. my insurance is terrible and i cant afford to keep jumping around doctor to doctor. im getting tired of them running tests i can not afford!!

has anyone else had this problem or can anyone offer any advice?
