Pre/Type 2 Diabetes diet?

I haven’t been diagnosed with anything but…. I feel terrible during the day when I don’t eat Healthy.. I want to change my meal plan.. I worked with a Nutrition Expert who came up with this in order to watch my sugar levels.

Breakfast- Two Slices Bread, One Cup Skim Milk, One Boiled Egg, One Serving Fruit
Lunch- One Bowl of Pasta, Two servings veggies, One Serving Chicken or turkey
Afternoon Snack- Fruit, 3 Saltines
Dinner- Three Servings Meat or Fish, Half of Baked Potato(optional), Two helpings Veggies, One Fruit Serving
After Dinner Snack- Cup of Milk, A few Saltines or Cheeze its

This along with Daily exercise and Better sleeping habits

Also for the Pasta and Bread- Should I be eating Whole Wheat or White Bread?
Im looking for opinions on the meal plan… not research sites!
so far for the last 3 days Ive been following this diet plan and have been feeling better..

Are there enough Carbs in this diet plan?

I am definitely doing this, so please do not attempt to convince me otherwise. I want to know how to slowly get off of insulin. I am no longer taking it before dinnertime, and have reduced my dosage for other meals as well as my long-lasting insulin (Lantus). Should I just stop taking it with another mealtime (lunch or breakfast) or slowly6 reduce the dosage until I can tolerate none.
No, I didn’t lose weight.

so the doctor put me on a diet …a slice of bread and something with protein such as eggs for breakfast, a glucerna for lunch and salad with either chicken or fish for dinner. I started doing that and lost 6 pounds , I went from 254 to 248 then on tuesday April 5th had an doctor’s appointment and they weighed me saying I weigh 235 and my diet started on the 7th of last month. So my question is is that bad to have lost all that weight in a month , I read in the internet that normal would be 1 pound a week. That anything more than that would be bad. Oh and I don’t skip meals or anything like that I just changed white bread to wheat bread high in fiber , 97 percent fat free turkey ham, fat free dressings for my salads and well basically eat food that are low in fat 2% cheese. I dont drink sodas anymore just water. Ok so back to my question is that bad? Will I gain it all back??

Glucerna shakes and weight loss?

I am diabetic with a "fatty liver", at only 32 this scares me and I need to lose atleast 50 lbs (according to my dr) so I was wondering if it is safe to drink the glucerna shakes like some people would use the slimfast shakes and drink those for breakfast and lunch or whatever. Would that help me lose some weight to regain some control?

I had a blackout type episode after having an alchoholic mixed drink. I am a non insulin dependent but medicated diabetic.
I had eaten a large lunch earlier in the afternoon. I had began the evening by having a few beers. Then around 10, I drank a drink of vodka and a non diet citrus soda. Within a few minutes I began to act "silly" and went for several hours, until about 3 in the morning, blacking out, not remembering anything.
The few beers I had were spread out over several hours and I only consumed about half of the mixed drink.

I am 28 weeks along now and my midwives want to send me in for the 2 hour glucose test, so i eat a lunch then 2hrs later we get my blood checked. Anyhow I am thinking I will eat a lunch but they say it has to be a balanced meal, what exactly are some good examples of a balanced meal for lunch.

What is a good diet for Gestational diabetes?



I was just told today that ‘s what I have.

I typically eat a smoothie(milk, frozen mano, peach yogurt) for breakfast with two pieces of toast, then some fruit and whatever I can snack on crackers or small pasta dish for lunch, and typically chicken veggies, and a carb of some kind.

I went crazy over christmas with the baking, I’m worried that’s what tipped me over, as my gluclose levels never measured high until the Christmas season.

What is a good sort of diet to follow?
I’m 31 weeks! incase that makes a difference.
As i research every website says to have carbs…it helps keeps the sugar levels down. Carbs like pasta, whole wheat bread…i think i ruined my levels over christmas, I really went overboard.

what meal plan?
and how long should i keep it up for?
(cuz i heard that if you don’t eat meat after about a week you’ll start to gain weight…instead of lose)
and do you have to have the full 500 calories a day?
or could i just go with water all day, plus green salad and half a grapefruit for lunch and dinner?

I have had type II diabetes for about 2 years now. I am about 45 lbs overweight taking, taking janument twice a day and been following a very strict diet for about two months now, and my sugars are still out of control. My sister -in law has had type II diabetes for 16 years, is about 100 lbs overwreight, taking janumet twice a day and eats whatever she she wants and has perfect blood sugar control. Yesterday I had a small bowl of cherrios for breakfast, tomotao and cottage cheese for lunch, and chicken and green beans for dinner my fasting sugar was 250. She had no breakfast, pasta from Olive Garden for lunch, and a bannana split and half of her daughter’s sundae at dinner and her fasting sugar was 111? How is that possible?

sorry Ive just been diagnosed and started testing 2 days ago…had normal values
today I was high ( not extremely ) after 1 hour and then low after 2 hours?
Was it because of what I ate? I had some chunky chicken soup o-o
I had 40g carb with my lunch at that meal…Im given a 45-60 limit! Its tricky

How is it that I ate a this and had low blood sugar?



For lunch I had PB&J and a orange, 3 hours later my blood sugar dropped I had to get a soda. What’s up with that?
I’m not on meds, I just take a vitamin

Can you have low blood sugar without having diabetes?



I’m a little confused…I know what low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, is, but what’s the difference between having low blood sugar between meals and having low blood sugar because you’re diabetic? Can you have low blood sugar if you aren’t diabetic?

During school, particularly the class before lunch and sometimes the class after lunch, I feel sick to my stomach, get shaky and sweaty, and really tired, like yawning a lot…I know it’s probably because my blood sugar is low, but is that as sign of having diabetes? I’m so confused, lol…

141 blood sugar, I'm not diabetic?



My dad is diabetic. I’ve been hypoglycemic for a couple years. But I’ve never had a problem with high blood sugar at all!

I’ve had a tiny cut on my finger that has been healing for probably about a month maybe more. I’ve also been going to the bathroom a lot lately. So I decided to test my blood sugar on my dad’s meter. Yes of course I changed the needle, and changed it again when I was done. It ended up saying 141. I thought maybe something was wrong with the meter so I tested it again and it came back 147. I was still a little taken aback so I tested again (I know paranoia) and it was again in the 140′s. I’m not a breakfast eater either so I haven’t eaten breakfast today and haven’t eaten lunch yet. I’m about to though.

I know the normal range (depending on who you ask) is about 70/80-120. So can someone give me some information about the blood sugar level I have? Especially for not eating today. I did have coffee. But that’s it. I’m a little worried.
I am 21. Yes I used an alcohol swab to clean my finger.
I’m also not overweight. I’m underweight. I took a recent trip to the doctor because I can’t put on weight for the life of me. I’m 5’5" and weigh 103.
Tin S: Oh, I’m so sorry I didn’t spell everything out for you. When I say "I’m not diabetic", that means I have not been diagnosed by a doctor (MD) that I am diabetic. I didn’t realize that it was that hard to figure out what I meant. I came here to get helpful advice from people who have experience, not smartass comments. And like other people are saying, a reading at home (unofficial test) of 141 is not a diagnosis. So please stop with the common sense talk, because if you had any, I wouldn’t have had to spell everything out for you here.

I am 16 weeks pregnant and this week I have noticed in the morning when I first get up I have to eat right away and I have to eat a good amount. Then it feels like until the food starts getting digested I am weak and feel like I am having a hot flash. This is my third and I do remember having this with my other two but it usually occurred in the middle of the day if I ate lunch too late or something. I guess it could be because I have gone a good 8 hours without eating. Hoping it is just regular pregnancy hunger issues!
