I recently lost my insurance and job, and have become financially strapped. I have signed up for the various programs available to get my Humalog/Novalog and Lantus insulin free, but it will be at least 4-6 weeks before they take effect, and my supplies are low now. I’m also in need of test strips, which are quite expensive. I’m looking for a resource that may be able to provide me these in the short term. I know many doctors get sample vials as my old DR used to provide them to me sometimes, and I’m hoping perhaps I can find such a source now. Help is much appreciated. Buffalo NY area specifically.
I’ve already contacted the drug company programs for free meds, but their process will take at least 4 weeks and my need is more immediate.

My mom is had diabetes, heart and lung problems, she was in ICU for a week now. I can’t travel because I dont have money and job. As a student and parent of two kids, I am broke and don’t know what to do to be able to help her, she is in Asia and the medical fees very expensive. Four years already, we did not see each other. Where should I seek help to supply her medication?

byetta in a protein injection given to type 2 diabetes patients like myself to make the stomach empty out slower so the insulin that your pancres produces can do it’s job properly.

ok so heres the deal
im a 22 year old female. im not overweight. I dont really excercise as much as I should but I work a job on my feet. I have had quite a bit of muscle soreness and random muscle pulling and knots on my body for a little over a year now. as well as foot soreness becuase i have flat feet.
I am ALWAYS thirsty and I drink alot of water. I probably dont drink anything more than 6 or 7 16 oz bottles of water a day but still. i find myself to always be thirsty and I pee ALOT.
last summer i had a strange ear infection that wasnt quite going away. so my doctor sent me to be tested for diabetes. the only test I had taken was the fasting glucose test. the results came back fine. no diabetes were detected
however. here i am. a year later and i still always feel thirsty all the time. ive been feeling thirsty all the time for YEARS NOW. i can drink a bottle of water and still be thirsty rite after. my mouth gets dry very easily and i always need water. sometimets ill start to feel sick if i dont have any water to drink.
diabetes doesnt run in my family. so thats a good thing
however ive read online that the fasting glucose test isnt always the best way to detect diabetes. and that taking a glucose tolerance test as well would be better at detecting it. im just worrying that i still have diabetes even tho the fasting test came back as negative and i realy want to take the glucose tolerance test just to be totally sure. would my primary care doctor have to refer me to take the test? or would i have to go to an endocrinologist?

I am type one diabetic and I found a program through the lilly thing to get free insulin, but testing strips is a diffrent story. Is there any programs or anything that helps you get strips? I applyed at social services for medicaid but if you make over 300$ A MONTH then you make to much, and they said type one diabeties is not considerd life threatining and I did not qualify for diabled. I have been without testing strips now for 8 days just geussing at my blood sugars and how much insulin to take. What do I do?
Im not seeing no special doctors, just a local free clinic is all I can manage at the moment because I got layed off my job recently.

You can buy the meters all day long, But I was told I need a prescription for the strips and lancettes, Is this right? That just seems stupid. If I want to test my self, I should be able to do it.
Sorry, I dont have a job anymore, let alone insurance. I really am not a fan of Doctors either. I am self treating myself, so I dont go into debt by seeing someone. I read everything i can find about diabetes, and Probably know as much or more already than a doctor would tell me anyway. I’m just not going to start seeing any doctors. I am doing really well, by just eating well and excersizing. I Just want to buy some strips for my meter, so I can keep better track, I have been using a freinds meter, But I dont want to use up all of Her strips.
This sounds like a Doctor/ Meter manufacturer scam to me. I live in Nevada, Where do you people live who can get them without prescriptions?

I recently got a free One Touch Ultra Mini glucose tester online. It only came with 10 strips for free. I was wondering if there was a place online that I can get free testing strips and even lancets. I don’t have a job right now and am borderline Diabetic. I cannot afford to buy them. I was hoping that there was a place that could help me out. I do have a medical card so if there is a place that can accept that for free strips that would be helpful. Thank you so much!

If your job was producing insulin, what would risks would be associated with it. Need information like a risk assessment from a lab or something where insulin is made.
Thanks.

I’m type one diabetic, no job (for now) and even if I find a job it won’t be much higher than minimum wage, I have no parents, and I’m 19. Isn’t there any kind of anything that will help pay for my medications and medical supplies?

Does disability for a transplant patient only last a year or do they review it after a year? Do they continue to pay you disability until you find a job? I am a kidney/pancreas transplant patient who has had numerous problems, and still am having problems (rejections, etc.), with the transplant. My doctor says I am still disabled, but my disability is "up" in April 2009. Can the disability continue?

I have lost 22 pounds in 2 months from working a nursing job that is leaving me dizzy on many days. Is the underlying cause low blood count, low blood sugar, etc? No idea except weight loss is too sudden.
