I’ve been having major problems w/my blood sugar. If I don’t eat between 2-3 hrs after my last meal, my blood sugar drops dramatically. My father-i-law, being diabetic, tested me one day and my blood sugar count was 29. My grandfather, also diabetic, tested me 3 weeks later, and it was 34. I went to the doctor right after breakfast, and they tested my blood sugar. It was 103. I get convulsion like shakes, blurred vision, i break down and cry if it gets really low, and on occassion when its down that low I get extremely sleepy and weak. The doctor said its just a high metabolism and for me to eat more. But, if I do that, I’ll be eating all day long!!! I already eat 6-8 small meals a day! I had labwork done 3 days ago, and all came back normal. No diabetes, hypoglycemia, anemia, nothing. So, after following doctor’s orders and adding a pre-natal vitamin to my diet, I’m still getting the shakes, headaches, and blurred vision. How can you be positive that you don’t have hypoglycemia?
I went to the doctor on a full stomach, that was when my blood sugar tested at 103. I’m not currently on any meds. None. The doctor suggested that I just have a high metabolism, but I’ve tried doing what she suggested (juice in the morning as soon as I get up, 5-6 small meals throughout the day, taking a prenatal vitamin) and nothing has helped. I was having blurred vision all day, along with shakiness, irritability. I ate a Hershey’s Chocolate bar, and it all went away. I went back today to get my lab results, & the nurse DID ask me if I’m testing my sugar in the morning. I said no, I don’t have one of those things to test it with, he says, "She didn’t give you one?" Looks at my chart and says, "Oh, ok." I’m just so confused about what’s happening with me! So, I’m guessing my question is if I went to the doctor on a full stomach, is it possible that they were not able to find hypoglycemia? Or is it always there & there’s no way to overlook it? Hypoglycemia or high metabolism??
