I know cactus can bring it down quick. As can exercising and wasting energy.
But if someone can’t exercise due to a heart condition. Then how can they bring down their high blood sugar quickly?
What foods are good for that?
Or should the person just not eat for a while?
interesting. I eat cactus to bring mine down and it always works like a charm. As it does for the people I recommend it to. I guess it depends on the person. My mother inlaw now has diabetes and can’t exercise due to a heart condition so I guess meds is the only option there.

How come doctors want you to alter your diet 3 days before the test. A high carb diet. Why alter diet if they are trying to figure out if you have high blood sugar?
1 hr test. and I did ask them, but i guess i didn’t get it to stick in my head. yea, they told me not to eat after midnight.

While I’m waiting for the results of my blood tests to come back, I thought I’d look for more info. I have some classic symptoms of diabetes (excessive thirst and urination, fatigue). But it seems that I keep having trouble keeping my blood sugar *high* enough. I wake up shaky or shaking, but it calms down once I eat. This happens during the day too.
Can hyperglycemia still cause symptoms like that? Or can an undiagnosed/uncontrolled diabetic have episodes of hypoglycemia (as it’s my understanding that it’s generally high blood sugar that’s the problem)?
For reference, I’m a 22 year old female who falls in the "underweight" range (so Type II is quite a bit less likely).
Thank you for the responses. I do know the difference between low and high blood sugar. That’s why I was confused. And I have seen my doctor. I go back this week for the test results/follow up; I’m just looking for info in the meantime.

I recently went to the doctors because I had been really tired lately, trouble concentrating, muscle pains and headaches. I found out i was really low on Vitamin D and had a high blood sugar of 128. I was instructed to monitor my sugar, so I brought a glucose meter and check my blood twice daily. Yesterday around noon I had 104 and i had 130 about 3 hours after eating in the evening. I rechecked this morning (without eating anything all nite) and it was 94 but now it is 148. i ate about 3 hours ago….is this normal? also, when ever I start feeling tired, my blood sugar is high. Should I worry?

So like:
A diabetic person with a high blood sugar level exercises and eats the right food and gets their blood sugar under control (like the same level as a non-diabetic person). Is the person STILL diabetic?
I am not diabetic. I was just curious because I don’t think there is a cure for diabetes as of right now. So yeah.

My friend has REALLY high blood sugar. I believe that is type 1 diabetes. I’m not sure. Anyway, the question is that he says he can’t eat cooked onions because of the sugar, but i’ve read numerous sites online that state that they are actually really good for diabetes. Does anyone know the truth? He is coming over with his girlfriend for Thanksgiving and I just wanted to know if it was safe to put onions in the food.

I am asking as a relative of mine has been prescribed tablets for type II diabetes. It turns out that she is NOT diabetic and they have got her mixed up with another patient who has the same first name and a similar surname. She has been on these tablet for over two months. I presume they are to control blood high(?) blood sugar, so what would the effect of these be on someone who is not diabetic?

I just started on a medicine to lower my high blood sugar. I ate lunch (a salad, light cheese stick, and some almonds) and checked my blood sugar and it was 86. But I’m feeling a little shaky like I usually feel when I haven’t ate in a while. Is it because my body just isn’t use to a normal blood sugar level? Will it get use to it? Anyone had this happen before? Thanks!

okay so I took a blood meter strip test, and my blood sugar was 106.
I had a high blood sugar according to the blood test I took at the doctor, it was 104. (This was before I took the blood meter strip test)
So anyway, I took the oral blood glucose test, when i got home a few hours late rmy throat felt dry, and I should tell you. (I only drank a little bit of water) I NEVER had dry throat before.
Symtoms of high glucose blodo because of the test? Diabeties? Give me your honesty.
What do you think?

My husband has type 1 diabetes (for 15 years) and I am seemingly pregnant all the time and have a super powerful nose. He had an extremely high blood sugar the other day…meter wouldn’t read it…and has been putting off that intense acetone/ammonia/chemical odor for days now. It will typically wear off sooner or later but I wonder if anyone else deals with this as frequently as me and if anyone know how to get rid of it faster? Anyone??? Why does it even smell like that?

I am a Type 2 diabetic on insulin. When I forget to take my insulin and my blood sugar gets high (over 275) I feel short of breath and tightness in my mid chest. What causes this (besides high blood sugar) I would like to know a technical explanation, please. Maybe it will help me get better control. Thank you
