im poor and have no insurance, but i want to get my glucose test, do i need a doctor for this or is there a kit or a free clinic i can go to? thanks

Well honestly im feaking out people the doctors are confusing me.You see Im a truck driver and recently I was do for my medical evaluation.Its a every two year thing.well this year it came out that ive got protein in my urine no blood and my glucouse levels are normal. My blood test are basically normal colesterol you might guess tipical trucker high.They did a blood sugar glucose test test strip. it showed 120.any body help set my mind at ease please.

I know now I have to do the 3 hour glucose test. What I’m concern about is will the diabetes go away after I give birth or will I continue having it? This is my 3rd pregnancy and my 1st time failing the glucose test.

I saw my primary care physician because I have been having several problems-weight loss and the inability to gain/maintain weight, fatigue, cuts and bruises that do not heal and sensitivity to sugar. Everything except the sensitivity to sugar has been an ongoing problem for about a year and a half. The fatigue has worsened and the sensitivity to sugar developed about 7 weeks ago. My doctor ordered a number of tests to rule out thryoid problems, anemia, liver problems, and diabetes. The only test so far to come back abnormal was the 3 hour glucose test and the results were 74 (fasting), 47 (at 1 hour), 51 (at 2 hours) and 57 (at 3 hours). I seem to have more problems about an hour after I eat than if I haven’t eaten in a long time but I have them then too. They include headache, dizziness, weakness, lack of coordination, and confusion (similar to being drunk). My doctor referred me to an endocrinologist who asked a few questions and had me by a glucose meter to test myself for 3 weeks.
I also feel constant pressure in my upper abdomen and eating (regardless of what it is that I eat) causes abdominal distention but that resolves after several hours. I would not consider any of this "pain" however so the endocrinologist does not think that there is any problem at all. He said "I really don’t think that there is anything wrong with you". I have a very hard time at work when these days because at least once a day I have an episode like this where I basically feel like I am drunk, so I don’t know what the problem is but there is definitely a problem and my doctor agrees. What should I do? The pharmacist said that glucose meters really aren’t useful for testing for hypoglycemia because the aren’t very accurate below the level of the low hundreds. I bought one anyway but I think the endocrinologist just isn’t taking me seriously. Suggestions?

The doctor says that I have nerve damage caused by diabetes. My family doctor says that he don’t think I have diabetes. But he only took a blood test. I haven’t done a glucose test. I have the symptoms and now the specialist says that I have nerve damage caused by diabetes. I would like to change my diet now and see if I can prevent it from getting worse. What are my best options? I would like some good books.

i’m 23 weeks pregnant and i’m having my glucose test done monday. can anybody tell me what it’s like? does the stuff you drink make you sick? do they prick your finger or draw blood? if your blood sugar goes up high, will it make you feel bad or if it stays the same will it make you feel bad anyway? what is your blood sugar supposed to do if the test is normal? i’m kind of nervous. i’m just wondering what i should expect. thanks!

I started my fasting today at exactly 12 midnight and i work an 8 hour graveyard shift. Is it okay to drink water during the fasting before i go take my 3 hour glucose test in a couple hours?

I am 31 1/2 weeks pregnant and failed my 3 hour glucose test. I am controlling my blood sugar with diet, but was wondering when high blood pressure usually starts with gestational diabetes? I had high blood pressure at the end of my last pregnancy and was induced at 37 weeks. I didn’t have gestational diabetes last time though.

my Dr. said i have to get that glucose test done as soon as i can (that`s like within this week…)

i told my mom about it and she said that that test is really bad that they give u pure glucose and thats really bad for your organism and whatnot. she always says that tests are not necesary and that why should i get them and stupid nonsense like that , she says dont get ultrasounds, dont use epidurals dont use this never take that ARGHHH and she doesnt even have a reason, and if she has to make up a reason she will do it (but i know that some of the things she says are actually true.) so that gets me thinking….

my question is is this glucose test bad or harmful ? yes, no , and WHY .

Good evening this may sound silly but it dawned on me that I have my glucose test tomorrow morning the question I have is do I have to not eat at all or just avoid sugar I so can’t remember I can allways call in the morning and find out the appt. is a t 10: 30 so I would like to have breakfast b4 hand . thanks!!

Is the glucose test really as disgusting as i hear. Everyone i talk to says it makes u sick and i have mine in the morning. Now i’m really nervous! Anyone been through it that can offer an opinions?

I can’t believe I had to go thru this again. Hopefully I pass it so I won’t have to go thru the 3 hours test.

I am finally 28 weeks as for today! Thanks God. I’m almost done
with this pregnancy and can’t wait to meet my little one.
