My father has had myopia [Near-sighted] for all his life. He has used glasses to counter it.
A month ago, he was diagnosed with diabetes type 2. He was expecting it since his father passed away from it.
But..a weird thing happened 3 days ago.
He now does not need his glasses to see far away. He can see perfectly.
However, he cannot see things that are close to him anymore. They appear blurry. He needs glasses for that now.

Please help? I want to know if this is a documented case or it’s a freak of nature.

He also has high blood pressure and high glucose, for which he has already switched a diet drastically, and tries to be more relaxed now.

i had a concussion around 3 months ago and i quit gymnastics… iv had some excersize but iv been eating a bad diet and alot more sugar than i usually would have… would that be enugh or tht amount of time to get me diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?
but im not asking wat prevents it im asking is it possible tht i hav it

In May, my doc said my blood sugar was just a little high, and to just keep an eye on my diet. I believe I have been doing OK in following his orders. I am 20 years old, a healthy weight, and in good health otherwise.

Am I still at risk for developing diabetic retinopathy even though I don’t have diabetes?

My dad has diabetes and high blood pressure and we really have to change his diet, he is having surgery on Monday due to his diabetes issue and we really have to step up the change in the kitchen. Anyone with ideas thanks!!!

Okay first of all i’m cheap, and my insurance coverage is awful. Should I just check the blood glucose levels myself with a cheap meter? And if i notice something wrong make an appointment? (I hate doctors btw bunch of pill pushing assholes)

Thing is i’m not overweight, I am however very inactive. I only play basketball once a week for 40 minutes and my job is sitting at a desk all day and I come home and sit… My diet is good too I don’t drink sodas and have stopped eating processed foods as much as possibly. I’m kind of a health nut minus the excersise so I find this very surprising that i’m having these symptoms. Sluggish and thirsty.
probably regardless what people say they over react majorly on the internet, i’ll get the meter. How should I test do I fast for a day and then check the level or when is the proper time to test? Thanks
Thanks for the answers this is definetly going to trigger a major lifestyle change i’ve already started to excersise vigerously lol But i’ve only been thirsty like this for 2 days now. But its very odd. I don’t find i’m peeing all that much i feel like i’m getting dehydrated so maybe its not diabetes. Thank goodness my health coverage just began heh.

I have seizures from a head injury. they got Bad this last june without warning. some have happened to happen after eating recently. Today I had a tester handy and tested at 137 and began to have seizures. ive been testing at 90 to just over 100 this week. I also hadnt eatin anything other then some chicken nuggets and didnt even want to eat that. Im always thersty and always having to pee even tho I Deny my self water due to the excessive urination Id never get any sleep.

I used a tester several years ago when I was having black outs directly related to sugar. I was testing then in the 50 to simply LO range. I do control my diet ever since then. The issue went away for the most part until now.

137 shouldnt cause me to seize-but it is.

I dated a diabetic once who liked to drink and do stupid s… So I learned real quick how to use the tester, insalin on him, and glucose tabs. So Im no idiot. I use a brand new one touch tester i program to every new set of strips.

so what are ideas here? Im thinking for Me thats High because of the seizures frequently happening after eating Anything now-and im not a junk food person or candy person.

What kind of Sugar -free drinks are the best for loosing weight?
Ive been drinking soda for SO LONG and I know its un-healthy but I just cant stop drinking it. I am cutting it from my diet maybe a cup on the weekend, if that. What type of drink do you find that is the best?

my question is I am exercizing, limiting salt and taking all y meds, what is the best diet for long term health and weight lose given my numerios problems.

i took a urine test and and they told me they found a moderate amount of blood in my urine, it wasnt visable to me or the doctor but was detected with the strip, so i went back the next day and they said it was still there but not as much as the day before, they said that there is trace blood, moderate, and it goes higher up, but im in the moderate range, what could cause this? should i worry? i heard one doc say it was protien and maybe i was dehydrated, i work out and am on a diet, i also took some antibiotics, could any of these cause this, some one help, i take another test in a couple of days

I just found out my dwarf hamster has diabetes and I have done everything necessary to keep her healthy (glucose test strips, specific diet, etc.). But the other day I noticed her walking weird and kinda acting funny. So I got the idea to look at her fingernails, and they are extremely long. Her daughters fingernails are normal looking and short but hers are like curling under. I don’t understand as to why she hasn’t been trimming them down, (I have all the right things you should have in their cage for their teeth and nails, I know they constantly grow) and thats why I am worried about it. I was wondering if I should absolutely take her to vet, or if there is something else that would trim their nails down. Would sandpaper be ok for her to walk on for a little while? I’m not finding much on internet to help me, I already have the proper things to take care of her, but they just keep growing. Help please..I’m very worried about her.

Ok, Im hypoglycemic/pre-diabetic and I take care of it with diet. I exercise, I avoid simple sugars of all kinds and so on.

Today, all day, my blood sugar has felt low (Im out of test strips so I dont know the exact number). Ive been snacking all day to get it back up, but with in 10 minutes it goes back down again.
I just ate dinner, and I feel very full, yet I feel shaky and slightly light headed. What can I do to get my sugar up? Do I just have to make my self sick by munching on granola bars and yogurt and cottage cheese and such all evening?

Im trying to study for a test, and this light headedness, shaky feeling and panicky feeling is making me crazy!

Any suggestions?
Do you think orange or apple juice would work?
I dont have any cokes, and Im out of glucose tablets and my local pharmacy stopped carrying them *gr!* I have to wait til I go to town this weekend to get more.

I have a diet sheet from the Dr. And it says avoid coffee or tea. I can see if there is sugar or cream added. But, it doesn’t specify that. It just says avoid! I didn’t know if it was something in the tea or coffee, or if they meant caffeine.

I have a crappy diet. I eat lots of sugar. I don’t like fruits or veggies. I pee a lot and I think I might have type 2 diabetes.

My father-in-law was recently diagnosed as a diabetic and has had to change his whole diet. His birthday is today and I do not know what to make for dinner or for dessert? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone! I think I will go with steamed chicken and vegetables with brown rice! Great suggestions. I think the angel food cake or maybe the reduced sugar cake will be best with sliced strawberries and do they make a reduced sugar cool whip??
