I am doing research for a project aimed at helping diabetics who use disposable pen type insulin syringes to better manage their disease and I’m having finding this specific data online. I would specifically like to know which pen models are sold in which quantities in different markets (countries).

I am not a diabetic, and normally do NOT have ketones in my urine. However, today after a 2 mile run I urinated on a ketone test strip and it showed up as positive, (in the 40 mg/dl range i think it said). Is this normal and healthy? Some input and sources would be greatly appreciated, everything I’ve looked through online is geared more towards diabetics and people on low carb diets

A recent study has found that 75% of diabetics cheat on their diabetic medication. Why would they do that? Isn’t it dangerous?

Can someone give me the "Official" website for the Canada Flight Administration, Or whatever…In the USA there is the FAA, But I don’t know what they have in Canada..

I read that Canada is the only country that allows type 1 Diabetics to fly as an ATP…I want to confirm this..Thanks

As you all know my fasting blood sugar count is 120 mg/dl on 8 hours of absolute fasting. I think I am a beginner in diabetes.
I eat rice or brown bread along with vegetables and fish during the week and meat only at the weekends.
The problem is that I eat a bit too much of rice or brown bread. One dietician advised me to snack on nuts when I am hungry so that I can reduce the amount of rice or bread intake.

I am planning to eat a handful mixture pistachios, almonds and walnuts.

What experienced diabetics have to say about this plan of mine?? By the way I am 176 cms tall and weight a good 95 kilos (overweight by around 14 kilos)
Good answer will fetch a definite 10

Normally i am very alert & try to stay as active as possible.
As posted i have been a class 2 diabetic for approx 6 years & am 65 years old.
And i am fairly sure my dozing problem is Diabetic related ?
I do for the most part keep my blood sugar count in check.
But like most diabetics am not perfect in this re-guard, but i do try my best.
When i work my computer or watch TV i get sleepy after approx 5 to 10 minutes ?
Does any one know of any over the counter medicine or even a simple every day Solution for my drowse problems ?
A RX prescription is not an option at the date.
Thank You.

I sent away and just received a food allergy test kit in which I mail them 3 blood samples, they test them, and tell me if I’m allergic to 96 different foods.

Here’s my problem – I’m having trouble getting a blood sample!

They gave me 3 test strips, (like the one diabetics use), and I need to fill them entirely with my blood. They said to use the given lancet to prick the side of my ring finger and extract the blood from there. I BARELY got enough to cover one strip – no more blood will come out! (I keep pushing the area around my skin for more to come out – and a little comes out, but then, nothing!)

The lancet is only a one-time use, so I went to Walmart and bought a box of 100 to prick myself again. I get home, and prick the other ring finger and again, barely enough blood….

My question: Is there another safe place to prick myself to get enough blood to successfully fill these strips!? I’m getting very frustrated and running out of fingers! LOL!

Thanks in advance…

I’ve recently developed a anaphylactic reaction to Penicillin, so I went to an allergist to find out if there was anything else i’m allergic to, and he started asking me all these questions about diabetes, and he’s sending me for an oral blood glucose test. Is this relevant to allergies?! I don’t wanna go through a test that isn’t relevant to the original purpose of the visit. Anyone who can tell me why?
I alredy googled i and the only thing i found is that diabetics can be extra sensitive to certain things. It was a doctor at the hospital who gave me a letter to state I am allergic to penicillin, and my normal doctor referred me to the allergist. I went and had the test anyway so I’ll get the results in one week
BTW: the test was definately a blood glucose…take initial blood after fasting, then drink a glucose drink, then another blood test each our for 2 hours. He also took blood to see if i was allergic to other things…so he did both.

Why must our blood glucose levels be controlled?
What hormone is involved in controlling our blood glucose levels?
Where is the hormone made?
Where does this hormone have its affect?
Diabetics can not controlle their blood sugar level properly. How is this treated?

We know that 85% of diabetics have type II diabetes and 90% of these are obese or overweight.

Calculate the percentage of all people with type II diabetes and are overweight or obese.

Please show how you found the answer!

Restaurants, fast food places, all seem to have stopped offering anything but pure sugar and Sweet’N Low. Monopoly? Equal and Splenda priced themselves out of the wholesale market? I carry my own now, just in case.

And why have the grocery stores dropped nearly all of their sugar-free products? Are the manufacturers no longer making them? There used to be six sugar-free syrups at my local store, now there are two. And Target seems to be phasing out sugar free candy. With a nation of diabetics, what gives?
