One of my really good friends has diabetes. He takes insulin shots every day but his blood sugar drops a lot and he ends up passing out. He can’t afford the insulin he needs and doesn’t go to the doctor because he can’t afford too and doesn’t have insurance. Does anybody know of any organization that helps with something like this? He needs help paying for all his diabetic supplies. And please, no stupid or inconsiderate answers. I’m looking to help a good friend so if your not one of those who cares about others, then go to a different question.
And yes, I do know this question belongs in a different section but done tried and didn’t get any responses.

I have a daughter( single parent), but I’m only working part time and no longer eligible for a medical card which means no health coverage for me, and I have type 1 diabetes so health insurance is very important when it comes to affording my diabetic supplies and insulin. I didn’t know because I have a dependent, if my parents can still claim me as their dependent ( I live with them)? I tried looking it up in a search engine, but nothing gave me the answers I was looking for. My daughter is still eligible for her medical card so she is fine as far as health care goes, but I’m really worried I won’t be able to get the care I need especially with my diabetes. I have no spouse, so I can’t be covered that way. Anyone know if I can be covered under the new law, and if not, what else can I do?
I am from kentucky.
I am 19 and a type 1 diabetic, I was on my dads insurance ( through his work) but since ive turned 19 im no longer on it. i make to much money to qualify for OHP, but I am barely making enough to cover rent/food. I dont have the money to pay for it, but I only have enough for maybe a month. are there any places that offer a cheap insurance plan or anything? also what is the cheapest place to get diabetic supplies, i.e needles, teststrips.
thank you
I’m looking for patient assistance programs for diabetes patients. I need programs for those who are insured but low income that will cover insulin and diabetic supplies.
Who is the person who advertises diabetic supplies on tv
Does Medicare or medicare pay for a diabetic ID bracelet? what about web sites that say they will deliver your diabetic supplies to your door if you are on medicare or medicare?
I don’t have any sort of medical insurance right now. I did have medi-cal but I’m losing it at the end of this month because I had a miscarriage and don’t have any kids. I’m a type 2 diabetic planning on getting pregnant again, but they won’t allow me to stay on medi-cal. I’m trying to find ways to get my diabetic supplies free or very cheap as money is also an issue. Please no lecturing, just looking for some help. Thanks.
By the way, I live in Modesto, CA. Trying to find something near by that can help or online websites, maybe.
My friend and I are considering doing this non-profit work for kids with Type I diabetes in under developed countries. And before we actually start doing anything, our main concern is through what ways can we collect wasted diabetic supplies such as insulin pumps, pens, blood sugar meters, or simply in-date insulin?
Thanks for your help!
I just recently lost my insurance and don’t have a way to pay for my diabetic supplies. I really need to get some Humalog and Lantus insulin. I went to walgreens and said it was an emergency, they wouldn’t even help me out and they still wanted me to pay over 0 for the insulin… I just cannot afford this! Is there anywhere I can get my insulin for free and fast?
I’m a nurse and I see on a daily basis the way our tax money is wasted in order to make drug companies, insurance companies, politicians, Medicare billing services (you know those ads that promise to send "all your diabetic supplies right to your door & we’ll bill your insurance for you"), etc.etc richer than they already are. And at the same time, everyday people are doing without the care they need and deserve. How much worse could socialized medical care be? In my situation, my husband is disabled and gets medicare; but, I still pay almost 0 a month on secondary insurance, just so we wont get sued for co-pays on meds & hospital MD visits and even with all his coverage, we still barely make it, because of noncovered crap. I know I am luckier than a lot of Americans in that I have a decent paying job that offers insurance; even if that insurance is overpriced and just plain sucks.
Sorry so long, but I have to go to the doctor today and I’m kinda pissed off. Thanks
Im currently looking for a new company to process applications through medicare and send out diabetic supplies. I am only wanting .00 per approved and processed application. I possess a data base of over 2000 brand new complete leads. My old company was not paying me for my hard work so I pretty much kept my data. I have applications ready to be processed and customers waiting for meters and supplies. Does anyone know of an up and coming supply company or a company in general looking for new customers?
Okay, I never completely understood what OCD is, but I think I might have it. I do these weird things all the time. For example, I have this like fear or something that somebody is either going to break into my house, or is already hiding in my house, so I have this sort of routine I do before I go to bed every night. I have to make sure that my front door is locked, then I have to check in like all the closets & cabinets & everything & then when I’m in my room I have to make sure my door is locked.
Also, a long time ago I accidentally turned the gas on the stove on without knowing & my dad noticed about 10 minutes later. He was screaming at me that I could have burned the house down, so since that day I am constantly checking that the gas is off. Like, every 10 minutes I have to go & make sure it’s off.
The last thing is, I have diabetes. I keep my most important diabetic supplies like my meter & insulin in a bag. I am constantly checking the bag to make sure everything is still there, because I have some sort of irrational fear that it will disapear or get stolen.
I know all of this osunds crazy, but I can’t help it. I’m 14 years old. Do I have OCD?
I have been under alot of stress. I have Type 1 (for 20 years)and am bi-polar among other things. My car engine blew up 6 months ago and I don’t have any money to fix it. About the same time I was laid off from my job and have been unable to find another one. My house was foreclosed on May 6th and we got our eviction notice today. With no money, it has been hard to get my diabetic supplies. So I had been conserving. Like leaving my pump infusion sites in longer then 3 days, not testing my blood glucose level as often as I should, etc.
About 4-6 weeks ago, I went to my endocrinologist, and my A1C was 11!!!!! So I have been trying to stay on tighter control, but I am way too often going low. I have to eat half the kitchen to get it up to a normal range. Like yesterday, about 2 hours after lunch, I tested and it was 52. My Cozmo pumps tells me how many carbs to get it up. So I do that and when my pump beeps to tell me to check it again. It had gone down to 44.
So finally I drank 16oz of juice & 2 cookies and it went up to 90. Sometimes I will fluctuate high after that, but not often. I am now testing at least 6 times a day and my 14 day average is 167. Any recommendations on how to keep swinging and having so many lows? Like I mentioned, I have had diabetes 20 years so I am no "newbie" to the disease. Just looking to see if any one has anything to say that I haven’t thought of yet. Thanks!!!
The A1C of 11 was 6 weeks ago. It’s only been since then that I am having more lows so hopefully my A1C will be dramatically improved 6 weeks from now.
