There’s LDL and HDL one is good one is bad. Do the meds lower the levels of both of them?
Does it work by lowering the bad cholesterol or raising the good?
I’ve never heard they’re not appropriate for women.

My doctor found that my blood sugar is very high, and slow to come down, after eating but completely normal when fasting. He just claims I should limit sugars and carbs, but I’m concern this could be a symptom of something else. I’m not overweight and all of my other numbers (cholesterol and what not) are perfect.

High red blood cells, and hemoglobin?

Evidently, according to a blood test I had done at the doctor, I have both abnormally high amounts of red blood cells, and hemoglobin. Everything else was normal. White blood cell, and platelet counts are perfectly normal. Cholesterol was at healthy levels, as is literally everything else. According to every time I have ever went to have my blood pressure checked, it was in the healthy range. Not at all high. According to the test of my blood sugar, it’s also normal. Looking up what that would mean, I found a number of things it COULD be. I don’t think it is however, because with most of them, none of the causes really apply to me, and besides the high blood cell, and high hemoglobin amounts, the only other symptom I had of any of them was, the whole reason for me getting these tests, and things: Sometimes for no real reason, I start to feel extremely dizzy, like I’m going to faint, and like I am going to vomit, but never do vomit, and have only fainted once. Now, I understand that that does not mean I don’t have any of the listed things, but none of them seem particularly likely to me. My main questions are, does anyone know what it could be, and especially, has anyone on here had something similar? And what was it? And also, what can you even do to lower those things? It’s not as though I can just choose to produce less.
I probably should have mentioned earlier, but I am going back for a follow-up next week. I also probably should have mentioned, it was actually 2-4 days ago (I forget) when I went for the test, and just got the results from the nurse today, over the phone. Since this could be a factor, according to Wikipedia, I live at 495 ft (151 m) above sea level. Other things to mention: I am currently taking no sort of medication, I do not use any sort of drugs, whatsoever, and so far as I know I have no diseases. I was however, last year, taking a medication that I had monthly blood tests for, because it could damage either your kidneys, or liver (I forget, again; maybe it’s even both, though.). They never told me anything about the results, so I always assumed that meant everything was okay. I also don’t believe I would have been dehydrated that day, since all I had had that day was a bottle of water, because they told me not to eat after 12:00. And of course it will all just be speculation, but

Ummmmm. . . It’s being odd. The part it cut off, though, I was just saying thank you to Sach, and some non-important things.

I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Will any of the 3 keep me from going to Schweinfert, Germany with my husband? I am on medication for all 3 right now and have no complications but I’m afraid that I’ll fail the EFMP screening and be denied command sponsorship.

As I get older and watch the decay of my parents and others that are older than I, I slowly realize that getting much older is really not a very good goal. So, I think that combating the various conditions of old age, like high cholesterol and high blood pressure, is really a poor way to spend ones money.

How do you taper off of these medications?

Blood Test?

I am petrified of having a blood test. Haven’t had my cholesterol checked in 20 years, and the doctor told me to go have a blood test. She said they will probably take 3 vials. I am afraid, does anyone have any suggestions…??? I am really afraid of needles.

I’m thinking about getting life insurance in the next few months. Does it make sense to take some medications to lower my cholesterol before I take the life insurance screening tests? Would the tests detect the drugs? And would that make a difference in my premium? In other words, is it better to take the drugs, have lower cholesterol, and have the drug detected in my blood? Or have the higher cholesterol and no drug in my system? Thanks!

It does reduce my cholesterol, but it also has serious side effects, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am going to ask my doctor to change the medication for another.

Why am I getting a negative result?

Okay here it goes. I have been feeling light headed, and dizzy for 3 weeks, with nausea only sometimes. Waves of nausea would be a good description. I took a pregnancy test, negative, then I had my period as usual. Then I took another one after my period still negative. I have had blood work for blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol, electrolytes, kidney, liver, thyroid function, all normal. No diatbetes, no inner ear infection or anything. These boughts of dizziness, light headedness, and nausea were all sudden and have not gone away three weeks later. I went to the doctor today and had another negative test. Last night I had very light cramping like I was having my period, but i had my period last week. Then I went to the bathroom and a very tiny (1/2 inch) clotted string of blood came out of me. That has never happend to me before and I’ve never felt this way before. Is it possible that I am still pregnant? Could I have had a misscarriage? Could it be that it’s still too soon to tell?
