Basically I am active, not over-weight and need over 2200 calories a day.. I have never needed to watch what I eat due to weight. My doctor ran an FGP test and it came back at 117 up from 100 6 months ago. I am having a lot of trouble adjusting my diet. My doc told me to cut out all white starches, bananas, apples, oranges, etc. I love dairy, white wine, pasta, meat, chicken, most veggies.
I don’t necessarily need recipes or anything. What I am looking for are thinks to avoid; Foods, ingredients, good or bad nutrition information to look for. Any help with that or advice in general would be greatly appreciated!
what is isomalt? what are sugar alcohols in some sugarfree candy? if it is sugar free, why does it still have calories? how do you make hard candy without sugar.
i do not have diabetes, and was wondering if it is safe to take glucerna. i also want to gain weight because i am underweight. is it a good idea to take them?? i currently have a box of 8 oz cans. how many should i take a day? (220 calories each)
As someone trying to finish gaining weight from anorexia, I find weight frustrating. I’ve been diagnosed as hypoglycemic. However, after I achieved my desired weight, 2 weeks later I dropped 2.5 pounds without even trying. I never felt hungry, and I was consuming 1800 calories. I’m active, 17.5, and female. What’s going on?

what meal plan?
and how long should i keep it up for?
(cuz i heard that if you don’t eat meat after about a week you’ll start to gain weight…instead of lose)
and do you have to have the full 500 calories a day?
or could i just go with water all day, plus green salad and half a grapefruit for lunch and dinner?
Okay, I am taking care of someone who needs a lot of calories. They have cancer. Also, the appetite is bad. However, they have diabetes, and get worse if they have too much carbohydrate! Help! I need to encourage this person to eat, but however, I need it to be diabetes friendly, no sugar! I have tried the glucerna shakes, and those are okay, but you can’t live on that.
Hi I’m trying to eat very healthy (Zero salt added to food/low amounts of oil in my diet). I am thinking about eating 1 large grapefruit everyday and making a habit of eating other fruits too. I have found that grapefruit as well as other fruits contain high amounts of sugar. My family has a history of type 2 diabetes and I’m wondering what amount is safe for consumption. Is there a correlation between eating grapefruits and other fruits and increasing chances of diabetes?
I’m male, 22, 6 ft 2, 175 lbs, 32 inch waist.
Here is where I found the nutrition info for grapefruit:
http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-grapefruit-i9111?size=2
Based on this I will be consuming about 24g of sugar on grapefruit alone.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
this is a affect that people with high metabolism get when they burn all their calories.
I’ve tried it a few times, but i always seem to gain right after drinking it..
i’m not too sure if splenda is the problem, but it apparently has 0 calories, as well as the tea, so i’m not too sure why this is happening.. could it just be water weight?
let me know what you think. Thanks.
I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins, and found that I have gestational diabetes. Therefore, my OB has asked that I follow a diabetic food plan, but that I must be aware to consume the necessary caloric allotment of 3,200 daily. That is a lot of calories when almost eliminating carbs! Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a helpful (and easy) cookbook designed for women with gestational diabetes? I am sure I could use any diabetic cookbook, but am hoping for one geared more towards pregnant women, to help me get enough nutrition and calories in. Your help is appreciated.
Oh, and consuming meat is either hit-or-miss for me daily, as my morning sickness still lingers some days.
ADD: Yes, I am fully aware of the fact that I could easily look online. However, the whole point of using YA is to get actual perspectives and ideas. (Otherwise, wouldn’t the suggestion of just using Google pretty much eliminate about 95% of the questions on YA)
I found a meal plan, not a diet, in Women’s Health Magazine. It’s to help your blood sugar levels while helping you to lose weight. It’s 1600 calories a day with a mix of protiens, many fruits and veggies and appropriate portions of carbs and dairy. I am 21 years old, weigh 135 lbs and am 5’2. I exercise 5 times a week, 30-40 minutes of cardio each time (that is what the magazine suggests). According to my BMR, I should lose approx 1.2 lbs a week or so. Is this correct?
Despite my health problem I commonly consume energy drinks and, occassionally, energy shots. I bought one recently called Seven Hour Energy and on the bottle it mentions people with medical conditions shouldn’t consume it. I don’t have a problem with other energy products but want to be sure with this one before I try it…
It has 0 calories and carbs and contains175 mg caffeine, N-accetyl, L-Tyrosine, Beta-Alanine, DL-Phenylalanine, L-Phenylalanine, and Evoburn (pure Evodiamine).
Thanks.
as i a diabetic i have difficulty finding a decent snack that is healthy.
i notice on the package of natural whole almonds i eat it is labeled 170 calories per serving 140 from fat. Is this something i should be snacking on? Are there any healthy nuts i can eat in evening?
i use to eat a single plum but switched to nuts just for a change… please help.
package doesnt say "raw almonds" they are not salted , candied or roasted either… doesnt that mean they are raw!?
