Hi, back in June, I had a severe panic attack in which I ended up in the ER. They did every test under the sun, and concluded it was anxiety/panic.

The only thing that was of any concern was that my blood sugar level was 196 that night in ER. No mind you….I was in the middle of a "fight or flight" wild panic attack…..and before I went to ER, I had ate 2 Banana’s and 2 Chocolate Chip granola bars.

When they sent me home, they told me to make sure I check it again….and they also had me pee in a collection bucket for the next 24 hours so they could test it.

My urine came back from the lab as perfectly normal……
And 48 hours later, I did another blood sugar test…… this one came back at 106.

My doctor just wrote off the ER level as having a lot of sugar in my system, and having a panic attack.

I have none of the risk factors for high blood sugar…..
I am 6’0, 175lbs, 7% bodyfat, workout 4 days a week….. no diabetes history or either side of my family ever known.

Since I suffer from OCD, and a Anxiety disorder….I hate to go out and start getting obsessed with blood sugar levels……. if you know me, you’d know I will buy the meter, and the test strips….IN ADDITION to having the doctors office draw blood.

What do you think?? if it were you, would you follow this up, or let it go? I don’t have any of the classic high blood sugar symptoms…..like constant hunger, thirst, or urination.

Please advise!!

What does hyperglycemia feel like?

I think I may have type 2 diabetes, and was wondering if other people with type 2 diabetes could tell me what it feels like when your blood sugar levels get too high

I’m a type 1 diabetic and my blood sugar level have been previously ok. However since ive started college my blood sugar levels have dramatically increased and i need so much more insulin. My life style really hasnt changed that much and im not eating more than i normally do, why is this happening could it be due to stress or hormones?

my friend is not diabetic, but recently he’s been suffering from low blood sugar levels.

Should he eat even healthier than he is now, or should he do everything he can to spike his insulin?

PLEASE ANSWER he’s passed out a few times in the last week!

God Bless!

is the diabetes home test kit reliable?

i am not diabetic just using the glucose home test strip kit at the moment because i constantly feel hungry and faint if i dont eat. i have checked my glucose levels to see if theres somthing wrong
i tested it when i felt ok which was at 5:40pm and the reading was 6.3
again i tested it at 9pm few hours after my tea and it was 5.3
checked it when i woke up at 10.30am and it was 4.7
again checked it 1 hour later at 11.30 this was when i felt funny thought my blood sugar levels where low but again it was 4.9

do i still need to have a diabetes check or what? can i rely on this?
by the way i didnt go out and buy this test kit its a family friends he said i could use it to check if i was concererned and i guess it has to be accurate becuase he injects insulin so if the reading was off it could be fatal

I am a diabetic and recently am unable to afford seeing a doctor. My blood sugar levels are peak at about 500. I am on 1000mg of Metformin. If I double or triple the dosage would this help?

Hello ladies.
I failed my 1 hr glucose tolerance test.
So now I have to do the crappy 3 hr one.
I was wondering if anyone knew if I could opt to get my blood sugar levels through finger pricks instead of blood draws at the lab.
Obviously I will ask the lab when I make my appointment, but was just curious if anyone else did this.
I have a REAL problem with needles and even made my Husband cry when I had my first blood draw.

can you be obese and have diabetes type 1?

Let me just start off with getting rid of all the stereotypes. I do not consume 4 hamburgers, a large pizza, kfc and tonnes of chocolate in one day. Most people think that because you are obese – you eat too much.

I only eat 2 medium sized relatively healthy meals a day and no snacking ( I do however consume around about 1lr softdrink a day and know this is the cause of my weight problem). The problem is when I try to cut down on my sugar intake – i always end up with migraines and vomiting. I have done so for about 12 years.

I have gone to the doctors before and they always test me for type 2 diabetes. Thing is – my body handles the sugar fine and my blood sugar levels are normal – as i said – it is when i stop the sugar – i get sick.

Most people I know who are insulin dependant (type 1 diabetic) have trouble keeping weight on, is there a chance that you can have type 1 diabetes and be obese?

,does a slight rise in my blood sugar levels while I’m sleeping harmful to my baby?

So basically, i have a dog that is diabetic, and i want to know if he still needs insulin when his blood sugar levels are normal. I am afraid that if i give him insulin when his blood sugar is normal, he will go below normal.

My friend has Very low blood sugar levels and today she checked them about 10am and then again about 10:45 am, i’m just wondering does she need to be doing it that often? She says she has to be at 6 but what are most people really meant to be at-isn’t it between 3 and 6. She keeps saying she feels like she’s hypoing(sorry don’t know how to spell it) but i think she’s faking it cause there are no signs of a hypo.

What can I do to raise my blood sugar?

I have given up smoking and I am told the blood sugar levels go down after giving up. Now I know why I am craving sweet things, the problem is I am going for biscuits and cakes. I am trying to lose weight at Weight Watchers so don’t want to over-indulge.
What foods would raise my blood sugar to stop me snacking on sugary foods?

What is the Dangerous…?

Hello,

What would be considered a damaging blood sugar count for a Type II Diabetic. i.e. Anything over 110, anything over 115, anything over 120 etc… Damaging meaning, what’s the top end blood sugar levels that are most likely to cause the most damage physiologically i.e kidneys, liver, heart disease, stroke ect…or Nueropathy (damage to nerves).

For example, I went to bed with a Blood Sugar of 116. I woke up 7 hours later and my BS was 178. An hour later (still fasting, and no meds), it was back down to 126. I understand that if one’s BS gets too low during the night, the liver might act to bring it up. How low does it have to get for this to happen? (I was diagnosed 3 months ago with diabetes 2 and since I’ve been testing, the lowest BS level I’ve seen is 106.)
I have Type 2 diabetes. I’m not on insulin. I take Metaformin 1000mg twice a day.

Tested again last night. I snacked a bit so my blood sugar was up to 136 when I went to bed. I was only 126 this morning.

This seems counterproductive to me. Our goal is to lower our blood sugar levels. But when mine is low at night, it’s soaring in the morning. If it’s on the high side at night, then it’s slightly lower in the morning. This is one confusing disease.
