For diabetes type 2 only please :)

What is your average blood sugar level after 2 hours of meal?

I have been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and I now try to control it, however, my blood sugar level after 2 hours still looks pretty high (ranging from 8-15, average around 10), but it usually goes down back to around 5 after 5 hours.

I know the blood sugar level is all depends on what you ate, activity, level of stress, hormone, etc etc, but I just want to know what is your average approximately?

Thanks.
By the way, I didn’t take any medicine or insulin, 27 in age and would be interested to know people with similar circumstances (age around 20-30 without any medicine or insulin).

For about a year now my grandfather has been having these attacks…Where his sugar or diabetes level goes really low and he’s completely out of it. He talks out of his head [saying random things], incoherent, hard to understand, yells alot, and in his recent attack he kept talking about his deceased brother…Saying "he was coming to see him". He had his latest attack early this morning he was screaming and vomiting and hard to manage. We slipped a peppermint in his mouth [it usually gets his diabetes level back to normal when it goes too low] he kept spitting it out and it took hours to get him back to his normal state…Is it just because his sugar level is low or is it something else? He goes to the doctor regularly and they’ve never discovered anything…What should I do? After his blood sugar level goes back to normal so does he but he doesn’t remember the attack at all…Plus he’s loosing weight and he eats alot…What could be wrong? Help please?
He has a machine to monitor his blodd sugar level and takes insulin for his diabetes.

Non-diabetic low blood sugar?

My mother is diabetic(I am not), and we were talking about her blood sugar testing machine- the one that pricks your finger and you place the blood on a strip for the machine to test. I decided to see what my blood sugar level was and was a little startled to see that it read as 83. I am a 28 year old female, I am in good shape, get a decent amount of exercise, and tested myself about and hour and a half after I ate lunch. Is 83 normal or is it low? Should I go see a doctor?

What is diabetic neuropathy?

Nerve damage occurs in people who have had diabetes because their blood sugar level is higher than normal. Over time, high blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels and nerves.

What is a normal blood sugar level?

I have been trying to lose weight and decided to monitor my blood sugar level. It has ranged anywhere from 67-97. Does not seem to matter if I fast or eat. Does this fall in the "normal range"?

My girlfriend is diabetic, and we were debating this fact. I asked "what would you do if you if your blood sugar was too low and there was no sugar around for miles?"

Then I suggested that if she drank my blood (yeah, kinda weird, but this is hypothetical) then the sugar in my blood would help raise her blood sugar level. I do realize this would probably be a miniscule amount, if at all; but I just wanted to know if it was possible.

She disagrees and thinks that the glucose in someone’s blood cannot be used like that.

Anyone have an answer?

like i eat an EXCESSIVE amount of sweets such as: chocolate, ice cream, peanut butter, milk, sweetly condensed milk, etc. what exactly causes this? is it an anxiety attack? its completely unconsciously and before i even check my blood sugar level to find out im low. the reason i know im low is because of the symptoms. ive had diabetes 10 years now.

Hi, back in June, I had a severe panic attack in which I ended up in the ER. They did every test under the sun, and concluded it was anxiety/panic.

The only thing that was of any concern was that my blood sugar level was 196 that night in ER. No mind you….I was in the middle of a "fight or flight" wild panic attack…..and before I went to ER, I had ate 2 Banana’s and 2 Chocolate Chip granola bars.

When they sent me home, they told me to make sure I check it again….and they also had me pee in a collection bucket for the next 24 hours so they could test it.

My urine came back from the lab as perfectly normal……
And 48 hours later, I did another blood sugar test…… this one came back at 106.

My doctor just wrote off the ER level as having a lot of sugar in my system, and having a panic attack.

I have none of the risk factors for high blood sugar…..
I am 6’0, 175lbs, 7% bodyfat, workout 4 days a week….. no diabetes history or either side of my family ever known.

Since I suffer from OCD, and a Anxiety disorder….I hate to go out and start getting obsessed with blood sugar levels……. if you know me, you’d know I will buy the meter, and the test strips….IN ADDITION to having the doctors office draw blood.

What do you think?? if it were you, would you follow this up, or let it go? I don’t have any of the classic high blood sugar symptoms…..like constant hunger, thirst, or urination.

Please advise!!

He is 28 and about 6’2" and 230 lbs.
He has healthy cholesterol and low blood pressure.
He gets a lot of exercise daily, even a few miles of walking at work.
He used to smoke, but quit 5 months ago. (yay!)

For some reason, he finds that fruits like oranges and apples raise his blood sugar level. He says that meats seem to affect him least. But he can’t figure out what to eat to satisfy him. He wants to try eggs in the morning as something hopefully to fill him up but not raise his blood sugar.

Does anyone know a good diet regimen for him? Any help is appreciated. The more details the better! Thank you!
Also, specifically- what should his general lifestyle be like with low blood pressure and healthy cholesterol with type 2 diabetes?

My life style really hasnt changed that much and im not eating more than i normally do, why is this happening could it be due to stress or hormones?
