Is it necessary to take the the 3 hour glucose test?
I am 26 and 28 weeks preggo weighing 108 lbs on my 4th pregnancy with no prior problems in my last 3 but recently had a glucose reading of 147 not high but elevated. I had pancakes for breakfast that morning and drank a mountain dew on the way to the doctors before the 1 hour test, will that affect my results. I hate needles and do not want to go through this test if it’s not necessary, what do you think?

I’m wondering why you ate pancakes and then had a carbonated, sugary, drink that also contained caffeine in it too. Isn’t it worth it to find out if you have this terrible disease right now at this stage of your pregnancy? What about the effects on the fetus? Normal non pregnancy readings are between 80-120 so even at 147 you would need some type of compensation for the lack of insulin your pancreas is putting out. Is there a chance you’re taking anything like prednisone? Any type of steroid will up the sugar amount naturally too and make it seem as if you might be diabetic. The only thing you accomplished was to delay this test altogether. The are many people that hate needles, but they’re a necessary evil and you’ll see that if you just don’t make a big deal out of them they’ll be over with as soon as the test is done. Good luck and God Bless
