if you’re a diabetic could you answer this quick survey?
Hey I am in an engineering program at my high school and for our senior year we have to come up with an original invention. I want to make some sort of leg-holster that diabetics could use to hold their supplies when they are going somewhere that it would be inconvenient to carry a bag.
Before starting our project, have to ask people to fill out a survey to see if our idea would be useful. If you have a minute to fill out this survey it would be very useful. Thanks!
1. Gender:
2. Age (optional):
3. Do you ever get annoyed having to wear (or being told to wear) some sort of diabetic identification?
-
4. What diabetic supplies do you usually carry with you (i.e. meter, glucose, etc.)?
-
5. Is carrying these supplies (or a bag to hold the supplies) ever an inconvenience?
-
6. Do you think a holster-like device that you could attach to your leg and eliminate the need for a bag would be useful?
-
7. If one could be designed to be compact and relatively comfortable, would you use it? Why or why not?

I’m female, 20 and not insulin dependent - yet. Personally I wouldn’t use a holster when I eventually start using insulin for a few reasons - one is that as a female I always have my handbag with me all the time anyway, two because if they are marketed for diabetics then I don’t want an outward sign saying I have diabetes and three is that one of those hip bags (bum bags, fanny packs, whatever they call them?) would serve the same purpose, would be easier to access and more comfortable to wear.
1. Male
2 52 years old
3. I wear a medic alert necklace 24/7/365
4. I always have a bag that contains my meter, glucose tablets, plus the items that I need to such as alcohol swabs a syringe and insulin. Since I use an Insulin pump I also carry additional tubing and reservoirs plus the my tubing inserter too.
5. NO this is not an Inconvience, it is a necessity.
6. For me no, because I already carry too much supplies and
equipment to that it would be the inconvenience
7.Nope the bag I have would be more convenient, I can also use the bag to carry other things and other medications too.
1. Gender: Female
2. Age (optional): 39
3. Do you ever get annoyed having to wear (or being told to wear) some sort of diabetic identification?
No, it doesn’t bother me-
4. What diabetic supplies do you usually carry with you (i.e. meter, glucose, etc.)?
Meter, glucose or candy, sometimes my insulin in a capped needle-
5. Is carrying these supplies (or a bag to hold the supplies) ever an inconvenience?
Yes when I’m carrying other things, have my hands full, usually though I use a purse.-
6. Do you think a holster-like device that you could attach to your leg and eliminate the need for a bag would be useful?
It probably would be handy-
7. If one could be designed to be compact and relatively comfortable, would you use it? Why or why not? Yes, I might, as long as it doesn’t look really odd.
