You have one of the most difficult diets to monitor. my hubby is a diabetic on coumadin as well. A dietitian even told us this. The food that is the best for a diabetic, like vegetables- have vit. K which causes the blood to clot. What we have had to do is increase his coumadin level, so he can eat the foods that are good for a diabetic. It is hard but it can be done. Good luck.
Ask your doctor to make a referral to a dietitian. He/she can tailor a diet just for you and your needs. You are dealing with two different needs and they need to be addressed by a professional.
My husband went to a dietician for his diabetes and he’s on coumadin. She said the diet is no different for the coumadin than his diabetes. If you’re a diabetic and haven’t seen a diabetic dieitician or diabetic educator ask your doctor to refer you to one.
