If you take insulin and need to lose weight, don’t eat so many carbs and get some exercise.
You are not supposed to eat what you want and then take extra insulin to cover it. This CAUSES weight gain.
Just stick to a good healthy diet, watch your carbs and go walk every day for about 45 minutes.
Quit looking for the fast, easy way, that may put your health in great danger.
Learn to manage your disease the way you are supposed to.
DIET and medication and exercise.
Control is Cure.
Yes, insulin can cause weight gain, but it is not impossible to lose weight when you are taking it. It requires will power and exercise. Cut down on the amount of carbs you take in. The more insulin you use, the harder it is to lose weight, and it can cause you to put more weight on. You need some carbs of course, for energy, but you can also still have a healthy diet and lose weight if you just cut out even a few carbs at each meal and snacks. The tighter your diet is, the less insulin you have to use. Even if you are a vegetarian, yes you can cut down on carbs. Get a nutritionist to help you.
Honey, you can and must cut the starchy carbs out of your food plan. Vegan or not, it is a must to cut them.
Fats do not stay in the bod and cause one to be fat. It is the starchy carbs that do that. They turn into the stored fats with the help of insulins.
Pastas and breads and cereals, grain products of most kinds, potatoes, corn, carrots, peas and dried beans are the ones that are supposedly so good for us that are actually the ones that collect around our middles to our great disgust and harrassment.
These can be cut down to a minimum. To understand exactly what each do to YOU:
1. prepare a dish and measure out a portion at snack time
2. test glucose number, and eat the food portion
3 90 minutes to 2 hours after the first testing, test again
Journal all of the testings, the hours, the amount and type of food eaten. It will tell you what each food will do to or for you.
As much exercise as you can squeeze into your day will help as much as anything in keeping the stones and ounces off your backside as well.
Obviously none of us carnivore or vegan can cut out all the carbs, but we can and must cut down on the heavier ones.
Taking steroids for breathing problems has given me some other weight problems to go with the insulin/carb ratios as well. Cutting the carbs to the bone is not helping at all.
I’m having the same problem. I’m not veggie, but I just have a hard time keeping my carbs down. I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for months but I’ve only lost 2-3 lbs. I’m on a support group at TuDiabetes, and the consensus is that higher carbs are the culprit. So I am going to try and focus on lower-carb instead. It sounds like 100g or less a day really makes a difference, and of course watch fats and calories and get plenty of exercise.
You’re right that being veggie makes limiting carbs a challenge. Hate to suggest it, but are you open to fish or chicken? Probably not…in that case try to work tofu and eggplant into your diet more, and beans have carb but the high fiber negates some of that. And of course cheese and eggs are good in addition to veggies. Maybe watch the fruit and just have a little of that.
