Has anyone heard of or used the diabetes “cure” called MELABIC?

I’ve seen the ads, I have scoured the website, and I am on Julia Hanf’s e-mail list. I would like to hear about some results to see if there is any merit to her claims. Thanks!

Try it if you want to waste your money, but there is nothing magical here that helps regulate blood glucose. Even cinnamon has recently been proven not to help. Alpha Lipoic Acid can be helpful with neuropathy, but only in much larger amounts. And of course, only Type 2′s should try this stuff but don’t stop your regular meds. Type 1′s always need insulin, no other options.

it’s just another herbal scam. It’s not the first. Others have come and gone over the years, all with the same or similar compilation of herbal/mineral ingredients that were supposed to cure diabetes and didn’t. Similarly, there have been foods and recipies supposedly discovered in little villages in some far off place where no one ever gets diabetes, that the drug companies are afraid we’ll hear about, and you can order it from so-and-so and be "cured". The only thing it’ll do is lighten you bank account.
The websites are all marketing schemes. Most don’t outright claim to cure diabetes but "help cure it", because of federal regulations on unproven claims of cures have landed many scams in court.
The claims are never backed up by reliable studies. They frequently have "testimonials" by people supposedly cured and quote doctors who frequently don’t exist, are in foreign countries where it’s unlikely you can get ahold of them, or are so bad at medicine they’ll sell their name to any product for the income.
Scams play into the fears of people – people facing chronic illness and the realization that they won’t live forever, pharacuetical company conpiracies, the "life was better before the industrial age" (it wasn’t), etc. This is what makes these scams sucessful, because people want to believe but at the same time don’t want to think logically and critically about it or they’ll find out there’s no truth to it.
I can’t believe how easily americans fall into scams….
