It is better for your bs to be a little high than too low. I dont think a medication adjustment is warranted on the results of just 1 blood test. If it remains stable on your glucometer with just an occasional high reading, i think that is to be expected.

Well, that's good that your BG is usually pretty good, I assume you're Type 2. One of the biggest sources of depression for diabetics is the idea that every time you check your BG, you're taking a test, and if you fail you get bummed out. Think of it as monitoring instead of testing. One guy told me he thinks of his BG as a snake in his living room. As long as he knows where it is, it can't hurt him as much. If he loses track of it, that's when he's in trouble. If your BG is high, that gives you a chance to bring it down or see some patterns that need to be corrected.

I'm a Type 1, and my BG is out of range about 1/3 of the time, despite a low-carb diet, an insulin pump with lots of settings, and regular visits with an endo and diabetes educator. An important part of our body is broken, and we're just trying to mimic that process as best we can.

I get very frustrated when I'm high. A few times I've even thrown my meter at a wall. Thankfully it's a sturdy little thing. But you're not alone in this, it's so disappointing to try so hard and get a bad result.

I'm sure my doctor checks my blood sugar whenever he orders blood work, but I have never been advised that it was too high. I don't know anyone who has had this issue.

Regards,
