I have been pricking my finger in different spots , and 3 times already the blood has just trickled out and dried on the testing strip before it could read the levels !! the strips are expensive { i have the one touch ultra mini meter } and I can not afford to keep getting errors on the strips. please advise if possible for a good spot …

I was recently told by my doctor that new standards had been adopted concerning hbaic and dailey monitoring of blood sugar.Hba1c at 5.0 or below and meter readings below 100.These standards,to me,are totally unrealistic and virtuall unatainable.Some doctors fantasy.Anyone have any info or thoughts on this.

Anyone know of any coupons out there for accu chek active or one touch ultra meters? Or any place to get help w/ them?

Okay, I went for my gestational diabetes test last week and brought along my own meter. True track. :/
well, an hour after drinking 50 grams of sugar according to my METER it said i was at 158…yikes..its supposed to be 140 or less. Okay…I accepted the fact that I might have gestational diabetes.

Then the doctor calls me about an unrelated issue I’ve had in my pregnancy and I ask her what my results were…(assuming that she was going to have me come in for my 3 hour test…She said i was LOW normal..at a 97!
97? Really?
Either my meter is WAY WAY off or there was a mistake…(the guy who did the blood draw was BRAND NEW, said it was his first day…) so it really in my un professional opinion could go either way. Either he messed up or my meter is TRASH.
I wanted to know if there are any RELIABLE sites that might have information on which meter is most accurate (.org .gov .edu) anything. Personal experience is also helpful. I HAD a contour a while ago, but it got lost in the move to our new place…From what I experienced with that meter it was pretty right on with what I was feeling, so I had no problem trusting it.

I wasn’t thinking and I put the control liquid on the strip and inserted that end into the machine.

I had a hard time pricking my cats’ ears to draw blood
to do the test and so I am waiting a few days until his ears heal to try it again.

My family has a history of diabetes(both types) so I monitor my blood sugar weekly. It went from normal to over 600 in a week and I believe it’s stress. I am sole caregiver for my mom who is so difficult. I’m sure she has some type of dementia, she has become very violent and has even tried to kill me several times. She refuses to get help and the law in our state will not force a person to get help against their will unless they become a threat to the public(her trying to kill me does not count as "public"). On top of that my siblings don’t lift a finger to help yet criticize the way I take care of mom. Does stress raise blood sugar? Will it go back down?

Lancet that you get in blood glucose monitor.If the lancet has the twisty thing taken off is it still air tight? Also can HIV live in used lancets that are in the pen thing?
I got pricked in the elbow by one of these not a deep cut though it was very shallow and it bled it was a can this spread HIV?

I have been worried about possibly being diabetic and was thinking of asking my doctor to be tested. But before doing that, I tested my blood sugar on a friends meter 2 hrs after eating and it was 89. Is this okay?
If it is normal, do I still need to get tested at the doctor?

and can u tell me the meter name and price? and can u get them @ rite aid?
and is there any thing that u have to buy seperatly? like the strips and stuff like that?

I recently noticed my has not been eating much like he usually does. He is usually the hound of all three cats and eats anything. He also seemed a bit sluggish just laying around not doing much. I took him to the vet and the only thing she noticed physically was his spine was protuding. Because he is overweight and almost 7 years old I decided to have blood work done because I had a fear of diabetes. His urinalysis and blood sugar were fine but his white blood cell count was high. A few other things on his bloodwork were off as well. After a 2.5 hr vet visit the conclusion was they did not know and I got sent home with antibiotics for a possible infection. He has been on amoxicillan for almost 3 whole days and I don’t see any improvement. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Any advice would be great!

And to the last response I just took him to the vet on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!! So that is why I am on here asking. They told me to give him antibiotics for two weeks and then come back if things are still not good or if he becomes worse to come back sooner.
Also they did test for Feline Leukemia and it was negative since I do have two other cats in the house and wouldn’t want it transmitted to them or are you talking about a different type of leukemia??
Also they did check his urine and there was no urinary tract infection either.
She did say they can’t rule out cancer though. She said without an xray she wouldn’t be able to tell anything else from blood work. There are other vets in that practice so maybe I could see one of the other ones??

I have been recently diagnosed a type 1 diabetic and have been told I need an insulin pump as it acts like an artificial pancreas. My blood sugars on insulin have been at an 8% A1C and have an extremely restrictied diet to prevent highs/lows which the dr. seems to pleased I have gone that far. I am looking at the medtronics revel and the one touch ping as I have narrowed out a lot of the others so far, mainly I like them for the Continous Glucose Monitoring. My questions are this, 1. Is it any cheaper than giving myself shots 5 times a day (after the initial pump purchase) and the other meds that come with all the shots. 2. Easier to use than the shots 3. Which one is better to use outta the 2? 4. Is their anything I need to worry about shots vs. pump?
If you use a pump what kind do you use and what do you love/ hate about it….

it was 167
the other day it was 150 something.
am i guaranteed to get gestational diabetes?
i know this is pretty freaking high for a normal person.
i’m only 6 weeks along. is that normal?
i ate about, 5 or 6 hours ago.
and his meter is properly calibrated, it has to be, he’s type one.
should i seriously be worried this early on?
