A question about low blood sugar levels in type 1 diabetes?
I have been suffering for anxiety lately and as result, my blood sugar level dropped from 6.5 millimols per litre to just 1.1 today. I don’t understand why this happens when I worry a lot?

Because stress will cause your blood sugar to drop. If you ask your doctor they will tell you the same thing. It has to do with the fact that when you are stressed, you blood pressure may go up a bit, as does your heart rate and respiration. Kind of the same thing as mild activity. The best advice I can give you is to try to relax and not let things stress you out so much. As human beings, we tend to stress about many things that will work out the way they will based just on making common sense choices. So try to relax and go with the flow a lilttle more. There is really nothing else you can do about it, stress WILL cause your blood sugar to drop. I hope this helps. Take care, good luck!
That’s particularly odd. Stress (anxiety) and illness usually raise blood glucose. It’s a normal response by the liver. I have a suggestion for your anxiety… read Dr. David Burns book: "The Feeling Good Handbook". It’s a true life saver. (saved mine from suicidal depression).
Hey buddy, when we are under added stress our bodies need to have an increased amount of the B vitamin complex. You are suffering from a deficiency in vitamin B12. A deficiency in this vitamin will cause Moodiness, irritability, inability to concentrate, depression, dizziness, headaches, migraines, fatigue and exhaustion, panicking, head and hand sweats, etc.etc.
You need to increase your intake of foods rich in this vitamin ie:- yeast, liver, eggs, milk, cheese and fish, kidney and pork.
Recommended daily intake for adults is 2mcg. I suggest you go to the chemist and ask the pharmacist to recommend a good quality brand for you to buy. Simply ask for a multi B vitamin complex supplement.
For B12 to be properly assimilated through the stomach it is necessary to be combiend with calciumduring absorption to adequately benefit the body.
In the human diet B12 is supplied primarily from animal products, since plant products usually dont contain it.
B12 vitamins will alleviate your stress symptoms and increase your energy levels, resulting an improved blood sugar level. You also need to increase the amount of food you are having, obviously you are skipping a meal here and there !!
Do you also have sore lips, mouth and tongue, cracked and splitting skin around your fingernails and grainy and sandy feeling eyes? If so, this is also a vitamin B deficiency, vitamin B2 (Riboflavin). This vitamin will be included in the Multi B complex supplement that you buy. The recommended for this vitamin is 1.2 – 1.7mg.
Foods rich in B2 are milk, liver, kidney, cheese, leafy green vegies, fish, eggs, yoghurt and beans.
If you are a vegetarian and have excluded eggs and dairy products from your diet, then you need B12 supplementation. If you keep regular "Happy Hours" and drink a lot, B12 is an important supplement for you. Heavy protein consumers also need extra amounts of this vitamin. B12 works best synergistically with all the other B vitamins, hence my advice to get yourself a B complex vitamin supplement.
If you choose to follow my advice you’ll be very pleased you did as you will get fairly rapid release from your symptoms. In actual fact, you should feel some degree of almost immediate improvement.
PEACE & LIGHT
