Is being tired and sleepy all the time a sign. I sleep probably about 12 hours a day at least and I’m still always sleepy. And I’m not lazy.
I want to become a dietician, so I am majoring in nutrition. Is Auburn University a good school?
I’ll be 27 weeks tomorrow ; and I have to go Saturday morning at 10:30 to the Lab and do my 1 hr glucose test..
I thought It was later in pregnancy, at least 29 weeks?
I’ve recently bought a blood glucose electronic monitoring system. It’s the One Touch Ultra Smart. I heard I should invest in one of these and make sure my blood sugar is okay. I have never been actually diagnosed with being pre-diabetic, but I want to monitor it. I probably was pre-diabetic before I recently lost 80+ lbs. Things are much different now with my body, blood pressure, I’m assuming blood glucose levels, etc.
Today I used it for the first time. I skipped breakfast (bad I know… busy morning). So I ate for the first time around noon, with a light lunch. Then I checked my blood at about 4:00 and I had a glucose reading of 84mg/dL.
I was getting quite hungry so I went and made dinner and decided I would come back to check it again, after eating. If it matters.. I had homemade chicken noodle soup. I made it with whole wheat egg noodles, low sodium broth, etc. The rest is just veggies and chicken. It’s pretty healthy. I also had a 1/2 sandwich with whole wheat bread and turkey.
Right after lunch (now at about 5:00) it was 120mg/dL.
I am just getting an idea about blood levels… but I guess why I am posting this is because I am not sure about that spike. It’s not too high, but why the spike so much?
I will be checking it again in the morning (fasting check). Also I will be doing random checks, and I’ll have to see how it goes.. but I would like to know what you all think of going from 84 to 120… is that normal?
Any insite would be much appreciated!
im due to have a diabetes blood test tomorrow but have been suffering a bad cold yesterday n today so presumably will be ill tomorrow. so will i still be able to have the blood test or would being ill effect it?.
I’m 24 weeks pregnant with my third child. I was tested for gestational diabetes in my other two pregnancies but never had it. Last night I started feeling really strange. I got weak and my finger tips and lips started tingling. Then I got really confused. I was at my mom’s house and my step-dad is a diabetic so we used some of his supplies to check my glucose level and it was really low. I drank some juice and ate some crackers and started to feel better. Then i rechecked and it was back up to normal. I have NEVER had a problem with this…pregnant or not. I thought with gestational diabetes that it is always high and not low. Is that always the case or can it be low as well? I have an appointment tomorrow and this is the one where they do the screening for it. I just want some opinions if any of you have had an experience with this. Thanks in advance!
Our 10 year old son David was just diagnosed with type one diabetes. What can we do to make sure that he keeps track of his blood sugar and his insulin shots?

The person is over 45, male, African American and Native Indian. Their sugar level have been elevated for a period of time, but have been told they don’t have diabetes. How should his diet change?

I’m 14 years old and I’ve had juvenile diabetes (otherwise known as type 1 diabetes) for about 3 years. I’m 5’8 and 160 lbs (please no rude comments about my weight.) Would you consider that to be really overweight? If so, how can I exersise without hitting so many low blood sugars? It would kind of defeat the purpose, exersising then drinking juice to get my energy back up. Thanks!
just wondering.
i know the person would have a chance of dying
