Two months or so ago, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. A few days ago (and a little bit for a few weeks), I started getting this awful weakness in my legs and arms. Sometimes it feels like they’re heavy, like I’ll flip. Or they’re too light and I’ll flip over. It feels like I’m going to fall down. I know this is something that can come out of diabetes… but this is really soon! Is it even related? Should I call my doctor/educators? How do they treat this?

Thanks!

How long can someone live with type 2 diabetes?

I recently found out that my mother has type 2 diabetes. Its something that runs in our family plus she’s over weight and is obviously in the process of losing. Still, I like to be told straight up the dangers or what may happen with things. So be honest.

What all should I expect? I had the one hour one and failed it, so now i have the wonderful three hour test to do. And I can’t eat or drink ANYTHING after 12 tonight.

Also I am having my regular appointment tomorrow to. At 30 weeks what should I expect.

Also last thing, if I do have the gestational diabetes test will they do another ultrasound and everything. I know they told me they will do one around 34-36 weeks ( i believe) but what about if I have gestational diabetes. And if i do have it what will have to do then

I’ve seen the ads, I have scoured the website, and I am on Julia Hanf’s e-mail list. I would like to hear about some results to see if there is any merit to her claims. Thanks!

eat any.

She said to only eat vegetables, meats, poultry and fish and health oils

to me this seems wrong. I have a good whole foods diet on at least 90% or more of the food. Some days I might mess up up to 10% mostly when I eat out.

the grains I eat or 90% or more whole grains and real fruit not canned or anything. She said eat no carbs..is this not unhealthy? or is she right?

what kind of diet should diabetics eat?

she said to eat 6 times a day do not do this and I feel if I am going to change., this is where I should try not with the type of food I am eating but the frequency.

Am I right or she..I feel it seems unhealthy to leave out fruit and grains and makes the diet more monotonous just meats and veggies.

I am not a big very eater of dairy and eggs. I also feel if changing maybe I need to look at honey etc..I think it would be hard to leave out whole grains and fruits. I have been interested in nutrition for 30 years and feel except for a few messups once in a while, my diet is excellent but she thinks it is bad as she crossed off whole grains like tabouli, oatmeal, kashi buckwheat waffles, brow rice, spelt spaghetti, etc off the list and said it was very bad along with all the fruits.
well, I have been told by tow doctors both I have it and I don’t have it.

My fasting blood sugar was just barely ok and the last two aics just under the wire (5.9) but I was told by one I definitely had metabolic syndrome and when I went to doctor this week for the first time I had sugar in the urine but when I emailed her what it was she said it meant it was 250s.

When I do home testing over 60 reading showed an average of 229..it often is in the 200 and 300s hundred and I got scared cause for the first time ever I just got a reading of hi (which meant over 600) and subsequent readings of 579 going down over 5 readings to 434 after drinking lots of water trying to dilute it, so I suspect I either have it or is close. I just did a aic today and she can get the results monday but this time she said I had it based on the sugar in the urine so who knows..she has said no and yes several times so I am confused.
another doctor said I do not have it cause the aic was 5.9 but definitely
definitely prediabetic.

She is not a typical allopath. i find her very intelligent but also odd at times she once told me when I had itchy eczema to not itch it and when I said I had to told me to imagine a dial that said itching and turn it down in my mind and I thought that was bizarre. I do like her cause I am very into alternative health myself and rarely take drugs they tell me too. but she does not do hardly any "normal doctor tests and she sells supplements and lots of them, She was in a doctors of the futures list as one of the doctors found in only a few states and I do know she kept a cancer patient alive 4 years past their prognosis. She does order blood tests, but this time refused to test my cholesterol and stuff even though I wanted it saying why test it if you aren’t going to follow my advise and she was not as nice as normal..once I get the aic results, I will know more but I do suspect I have it and as family history of it as well.

she said metabolic syndrome had a
all the risks of diabetes and if I exercised 6 times a day for 10 minutes each time and did not eat grains and fruits and ate several times a day a healthy balance of good meats and veggies and oils I would be fine but I cant do it..it is too drastic

I am poor and cant afford all the things she recommends in the form of supplements/herbs etc (I do not have to get them from her and rarely do) My hmo changed and she is not on the plan as she said they made her see too many patients and she wants to spend 1/2 hour with each. I really like her and she is taking a reduced price and I am paying cash so now I can only go a few times a year. The hmo doctor is not my cup of tea but he is ok.
you are eating at the fairs…but it never was over 600 till yesterday after 10 hours sleep it is now 254 which is higher than normal. I ate Chinese buffet and a bottle of pink lemonade with grenadine I just bought so I am guessing it was that..I had a lot of coconut shrimp at the buffet??

yes the cholesterol thing really ticked me off…I then told her I was going on a health building program (incurables) that included juice fasting she said that is not good and told me to instead do the fat flush diet but then got visibly ticked when I said I wanted to do mine as it has reversed diabetics..do what you want she said and I think she was ticked I was not losing weight and wanted to do my program..this mad me question going to her but she is still better than most doctors I have found but she does not do normal tests much so this scares to but I do have another doctor the hmo takes. j
bolt–here is what she said was her philosophy in a project I saw on doctors using alternative health who are allopaths she said on her philosophy
"finding out why patients come to see me and trying to meet their needs=a therapeutic partnership/alliance

I practice what I preach (she does she is trim, vibrant and eating very healthy things based on the recipes she gave out and says she eats. I have seen her shopping at local health food store) I am current on readings/studies (true her office is lined with hundreds of alternative health books and she has recommended fabulous books and online aids etc..always up to date) I am extremely bright and curious about everything (yes this is obviously. I am gifted IQ and adept at diagnosing it and worked with teaching gifted kids and she is VERY bright..she amazes me how quickly she figures things out and relates them to the needed book or supplement etc) I love nutrition and see it as the foundation of good health" (true and apparent..

this is why I like her..she is not arrogant and closed to alternative health like most doctors..she is unique. I feel the best doctor I have had (till this last appointment that is)

she says her primary heath system is western medicine with a biochemical focus on nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, mind/body, gastrointestinal, kidney and liver. She has advanced studies in toxicology…she refers out for chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture.

the book lists doctors who listen, who understand that changing your nutrition can help you build up your immune system, who have the full training of the western medical system but who have decided that pharmaceuticals , drugs and surgeries are best used as a last resort not a first line of defense. A doctor who understands the chines and east Indian medical systems, who uses a holistic approach treating the whole person

although she may have a vested interest in selling supplements, she has never in any way forced me to buy anything or
or pressured me in any way. In 8 years I have gotten 2 things from her as I could find it no cheaper elsewhere, although I have seen many people buying bags of stuff often. Maybe cause she knows I am so poor. the HMO did not turn her down..she never applied for membership.

she of course knows veggies are carbs but they do not generally have the same reaction on blood sugar as fruits and grains unless they are very starchy..like she said not to eat much carrots and potatoes for instance.

Maybe the machine is off I am using..my fasting blood sugars are high normal and so are the AIs but this time sugar was in the urine and when I have it tested at fairs and at home it is in the 200-375 range and when I wake up about 150 so I do not know if I have it or not..the other doctors also said if it is showing a1c ok but high readings at home, I likely have it…not just her (2 others) and other meters are also showing it in like 280=320 range but they then say maybe it is cause of the food
yes to answer a question I am older and overweight type 11 not one but I do have relatives with both type 1 and type 2 but mine is type 2
well to update for the first time my a1c showed I had diabetes at 7

The last two were high normal 5.9 so I am very scared as a man I dated died one year after diagnosis at age 45 and two relatives went blind (they wre all type 2) another aunt was type one and nearly died form a diabetes coma. I do not ant to go through dialysis as my mom had 9heart attacks from it.
I heard of something called the hallelujah diet which is vegan and 5% raw and they had testimonies of diabetes healed. I drove round trip 250 miles to a seminar and he said they had lots of healed diabetics in 2 weeks to 2 months. Some took 6 months. I thought this was the answer thought eh diet was stringent..nothing for breakfast but barley grass and just salad or fruit for lunch and salads and a cooked vegan foods for supper. I thought I would modify slightly but then I heard this and all vegan diets thought they do heal after several years cause health problems and studies found most of the participants either
cheated and ate some animal foods or more beans and rice or cooked foods due to cravings (apparently caused by lack of protein, calories and nutrients and this scared me. Plus I have I bet a year of food stocked up and need to eat this and not throw away.

I think what I am going to do is eat less carbs and more protein and empty out meats in the freezer and then go on the incurables with juice fasting etc. After that I will try to go vegan–some raw maybe 50-60% not 85% and add some animal products occasionally like maybe 8 oz meat a month, 3-4 eggs, not every day but do some cottage cheese, salmon or mackerel weekly, some yogurt to try to get more protein and no get deficient in some of the vitamins these they studied did (b212, selenium, etc). Then maybe go on the incurables or smaller cleansing routines periodically, I also heard essic tea helps reverse diabetes.

The guy at the lecture who started the hallelujah diet said something interesting. He said if someone eats
a cheeseburger, fries and milkshake and gets their blood drawn an hour later puts it in a test tube where it sits a while, there will form fat on the top (I think he said 1/2 inch to an inch) of the test tube and that this fat in the blood from animal products prevents the insulin (which the type 11 diabetic is dumping onto the system but it is not being used or working right from getting to the insulin receptor site and I guess when we stop the animal fat, the insulin again works. I did find out there is an herb that helps the receptor sites better accept the insulin but it was at a book I found when cleaning my shed elsewhere and I forgot the book there so I may try that. I guess I am trying to finds a balance between the health benefits of vegan and the health drawbacks of not eating animal products. This type diet would go better with what I am doing now as I am essentially eating vegan 85% of the time and vegetarian 88-90% so cutting back on that 10-15% animal products Ir
is easier and more normal than stopping all fruits and veggies which I think is worst health wise maybe than going vegan…but not sure I can do it…either one. I am going to try though. The work I read of Dr Christopher, Arnold ehret, Ann wigmore and Dr Schulze who all had success achieving better health and miracle cures make me swing towards them. I also am going to try to use the gycemic index. I also started walking and hope I can make that a habit and going to take some supplements. It is so scary and I do not wind up like the man I cared for and dated who died one year after diagnosis in his 40s. I am trying to cut back on carbs some for now thank everyone who answered and carefully read and reread what you said. \hard to pick a best

although I found out my hmo covers 100 strips if doctor orders that, she only would give me 30 saying check it once a say so I cant check foods like German Shepherd said. I asked her to do more and she did not and I am pissed at her. Luckily it came in packs of 50 so I hope that is per month and I did not check yet if I can fill every months or if I have to wait 50 days. If that is the case, I am thinking of seeing her less. Maybe the other doctor can get me more if I go there.
